I have a couple final question concerning aftermarket TB's after checking out the website with the Flowmetrics results. I have a factory-stock 318ci motor, so what kind of hp, torque numbers should I expect with a performance TB? What are some other performance TB's out there? How much do they cost? Is that Flowmetrics TB for my engine only available through Flowmetrics themselves? Please help?

On the average, about 10HP more at the rear wheels and about 15TQ (also at the rear wheels). Notice that I posted rear wheels and not just HP. (Rear wheel figures are real world.)

You can buy direct from Bruce (Flometrics) or from Marty over at KRC. Marty sells them for Bruce.

The other performance TB's are Holley (a bit agressive for normal street use), Hughes Engines (great for those on a budjet), and Magnum Performance (great for those who want to pay a lot of money). The QuickD TB's are no longer available from Tony (QuickD) but are available from: fastman@mediaone.net.

Thanks Bernd. Last night I clicked on the links at the top of the home page for the first time. That answered alot of my question on many topics except for a few. Are the Hughes TB's as good, Performance wise, as the Flowmetrics? Which series Flowmaster goes best on the Dakota? Are the ones that claim to be real aggressive sounding very loud?

I haven't tested a Hughes TB at this point so I can't relly say anything about them with the exception that the ones running them are happy with them.

On the Flowmaster, the 40-Series has a very agressive sound but teh 50-Series is abotu the same with a deeper idle.

Guys, I mentioned this on other boards, in my experiance, stay away from the Hughes TB's.Poorly built. the throttle blades on mine would get wedged against the bores and stick the throttle open. Hughes machines the shaft without any center support and the shaft will bend down when the engine is running, sticking the blades.I returned mine as defective and they still charged me $68 restocking charge. If they are restocking this particular unit, I feel sorry for whoever gets it next.I hope their life insurance is paid up!
