 Subject: 5.9 in 2002 SLT Club Cab?

I am getting ready to order a 2002 SLT Plus Dakota and I was wondering if I can get the 5.9L in the Club Cab version, I know its availible in the Quad and Sport Plus Club Cab... but my brochure says I cant get the 5.9 in the SLT Plus. What I wanna know is if I can special order the SLT Plus Club Cab with the 5.9 in it and the auto tranny, with the full time transfer case. Im pretty sure it can be done :) I currently have a 2000 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7, and I really dont care for this engine, I like the ol' push rod, torque out the wazzoo Magnum Engines... So can it be done?

The 5.9 is only available in a Quad Cab (2 or 4 wheel drive), and an R/T. It is not available in the Club Cab, unless it is an R/T.

Look @ the CC R/T's those are the 5.9's

I'd like to have the 5.9 in the SLT PLus Package instead of the 4.7... With 4 wheel drive. My Jeeps 4.7 is having lifter problems and i dont want another 4.7.

Somebody could put the 5.9 in a non R/T CC, but the factory ain't gonna do it for you unless you order the R/T. Just go back a few years and find a nice used 5.2 4x4 CC and put a few mods in it. If you really wanted to could save a bunch of money on a higher mileage truck and have it rebuilt into a 5.9. If you have to have a new one then your only choice is to pay a little more for a Quad Cab or pay a lot more to have a independant shop swap out a perfectly good, brand new, 4.7 for a 5.9. That would cost probably upwards of $5000-6000 to make everything work right although you may be able to sell the new 4.7 that came out for $2-3000. The Durango R/T would be another option if you don't really need the open bed but they too are pretty pricey.

I dont have a use for a quad cab truck, and the Durango is to pricey...
But can someone answer my this, why can you get the 5.9 in the Sport Club Cab Plus and not the SLT Plus? Same frame... I still think it can be done from factory, and I am contacting my dealer monday.

You cannot get a 5.9 in a regular Sport. The Sport that you are seeing with a 5.9, is a R/T. In the brochure it lists a Sport with the 5.9, but the R/T package is required. You can call the factory, but you won't get them to put a 5.9 in an SLT for you. A 5.9 is a R/T or Quad Cab only engine. Sorry.

If you look in the brochure, I am sure it will say you can get a 5.9 in a Sport RC, as well. This is also referring to the R/T, however.

I was also wanting a 5.9L over the 4.7L, since their having it specially built for me I contacted Chrysler and asked them since their building it can they please put a 5.9L in it (2002 club cab) but they said they wouldn't do it. If you think about it, it would be a VERY rare truck not to mention if or should I say when it gets taken in for service there is not a book for a cc w/ a 5.9L. But I thought the same thing put the 5.9L in all the other Dakotas but not the one that I want, oh well, at least there is still a V8 option.

How can you compare an Audi to a Dakota, just get a different truck or something. An Audi? Sounds like your just pissed at Chrysler.

im not mad at anyone, im just car shopping, and i dont like chevy and ford trucks... to expensive...
the Audi is in my price range and is my next choice if i cant get the dak, also VW Passat 1.8T
