Labor only:

Ring & Pinion quoted $250

Pyle quoted $300.

Gears are about $300 if you buy them at either place.

Garys Ring and Pinion has gears for about $200 plus the install kit.

What gears are you going from and to?

hey, i appreciate you getting that info for me.

i forgot about houston drivetrain on north loop, they built a bad a$$ driveshaft for me last year, and i just got off of the phone w/ them and they can do the whole thing (parts & labor) for $425.

labor: $175
parts: $250

sounds like a good deal :)

That does sound like a good deal!! Do you know what brand of gears they are going to use? How long will you have to leave you Dak with them?

Bill

they use motive gears. i saw on a earlier post where bernd recommended them to somebody because they are quiet. i dont know how long my truck will be with them, but i do know they built a driveshaft for me in only 2 days, so i think that it wont take very long at all.

just got back from picking up my truck. total price ended up being $448 for everything...not bad :) didnt take them very long to do it either. i dropped it off at 8:00am and it was ready at about 11:15am.

i couldnt really put my foot into the gas because of the rain, but i can definately tell a big difference going from 3.55 to 4.10 gears!
these gears are vey quiet by the way.

Hey Klc,

You just had the gears swapped out and not a limited slip installed right?

Have you noticed the engine RPM difference at highway speeds with the 4.10s?

Did you not have the 3.55 LSD rear end to begin with?

Let us know how dramatic the performance increase is after the rain clears.

Thanks

Bill

at 70 mph it is turning exactly 2500 RPM's, which i dont think is bad, considering that i once had a chevy 1/2 ton w/out overdrive w/3.73 gears and at 60 mph i was turning 3000 RPM's!

i do not have LSD at this time, i simply just could not afford it right now. i know that i will be called a dumba$$ for it, but that is just the way it goes. i should have a LSD put in by May by a friend of mine for no labor charge.

i will let you know what kind of performance gains that i notice, but i have to wait a couple of weeks to break in the gears. just keep in mind that i do not have LSD, so im sure the gains will be noticed MUCH better for you if you have the LSD.
