JW, OK I need your help yet again. My neighbor has a buddy with a set of Bosch/Ford Racing fuel injectors, part #0280155710, and he says they fit non-Mag 5.2L Dodges. They are also brand new! So I thought about buying them but decided to contact you first. I am also going to call Bosch tomarrow and ask about them. Thanks for you help. Have a nice last day of 2001.

Beleive it or not but Dodge used Holley throttlebodies, but the injectors are Bosch! (My v6 injectors were and so were the ones I pulled from the 318 TBI!) I didn't actually look at, or write down the part number on my injector but yes, is was a Bosch so they may be the right ones. Back then, auto makers were using a mishmash of parts on their engines so Ford and Dodge may have used the same or similar TBI's. Best and surest way to know for sure is to pull one of your injectors and eyeball compare it for size. Important Point: From my research, the injectors are color coded for volume (size?). I think they will all fit but watch out. You say they are Ford Racing injectors check the color of the top. Compare this to the colors of injectors at www.holley.com. They list injectors from 45PPH all the way to 85PPH (Pounds Per Hour). Your injector will be pale green and the 318 had yellow tops. If the ford injector looks like yours, but the top color is different, check the holley website to see what size it is. My fear is that it may be overkill and terminally flood the v6 if its too large. ps. to my knowledge, the bosch injectors are just oem holley replacements. they are identical to the holley pictures. Use this path and click on part numbers: 522-36 and 522-74. This is what your injector looks like. http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/FMS/FMSFIA/Access.html

Thanks JW, These injectors are bright yellow. The Ford racing/Bosch ones. I have no clue what my stock ones look like. I will dig in there soon. I might just go to a junk yard. That way I would know that the injectors I get come outa a Pre-mag Dodge. On the other hand, the guy I am thinking about buying the injectors from gave me a email address of a guy with a 5.2L with those injectors. I will write him tonight. Thanks JW. Have a good, and safe, New years tonight.

If they are yellow on top, they're probably the right ones.

Hey everybody!
I have a 1990 Dakota 4x4 convertible with the 3.9L. I have just purchased an MSD Blaster Coil and an MSD 6A ignition amplifier/controller. Any pointers on the installation? Anything would be helpful. I am sure I can do it, but you all seem to have tons of experience and maybe you could suggest where in the engine compartment to place the hardware, etc.. Thanks in advance.

Another thing, I am planning to build the cold air mod, but wonder if the stock air hat type tornado air system should be left in place or removed...? Any idea on that one? And if you remove the accordion tube the SBEC does not get air moving past it (you know where the tube connects up to the black box on the passenger side fender) - Will this effect anything?

Last thing. I looked on Holley's web page and the part number for 65pph TBI injectors is 522-74.

The best thing to do with a 3.9 is put in neutral, run the rpms up to redline, and listen to the block crack.

Kurt, how are you man. Thanks for looking up those injectors for me. I just got a $200.00 speeding ticket so I wont be getting them soon, but I plan to eventually.
About your MSD. I placed my jacobs system on the fender well on the drivers side. Used 4 small boltz and some rubber cussions to keep the metal to metal contact down. I have had it months now and nothing has gone wrong.
About the intake. I used my stock air hat. Just removed the accordian (? spelling) tube and replaced it with a 3in PVC tube and K&N cone filter. I also used the orgional fitting to the SBEC controller. I fit the PVC to run within 1 inch of the SBEC that way I could cut out the fitting from the old tube that linked the tube to the SBEC. Used it to connect the PVC to the SBEC. Works totally great. Your truck will like it. Espically if you get a high flow exhaust. And ditch the cat. That'll help alot too. I have picts of these things so If you need a visual aid, I could send them to you no prob. Just need your email. Good Luck with it. Post some picts too so we can check out your Dak...
Later, Joe E.

Thanks for the reply. Please send the pics of your air mod. Email is 'k_heitger@hotmail.com'. By the way, running the PVC near the SBEC so I could 'hook in' with the original fitting from the accordian is what I was thinking. So thanks again, now I know that will work.

Can't cut off the cat 'cause of emissions, but I just installed a dynomax superconverter and I already had a flowmaster single in/dual out 50 series muffler and 2.5 inch pipe. Unfortunately I can't tell what effect it may have since I am having power problems now - likely a vacuum leak - just found a rotten hose off the intake vacuum source tree - I can hear it sucking air, so I gotta fix that before I'll notice any performance gains from anything else... as you know, engines do not like vacuum leaks

I don't have any pics of the truck. When I get some I'll post them.
Kurt

The ignition helped me in that area SB. I also got me a bit better gas milage. And the RPMs get up better. It will not give you the HP like other mods will, but it will help your truck make the best use possible of those mods. I feel it is worth it. But get a complete system. The ign. controler, new 8.5mm wires, new coil, autolite 3923s gapped to like 0.045-0.050. If you do the whole system, you will be them happiest. And keep your wires on a loom holder too. I burnt a brand new Jacobs wire on my header while driving home one day. Had to buy a new one. sucked bad. Try driving with 5 cylinders running, and 1 being yanked along. Not a smooth ride. Good Luck.

Thats the ignition controller. My jacobs unit basically compliments my stock ignition system. Its like the box that fine tunes all you ingition sparks, etc. Its the brain of the system.
About add-a-leafs, I got mine 1.5in from trailmaster. I have had no problems with em. But installing is kinda a pain. You have to pull the u bolts off the axel. Seperate the leafs, and install the new leaf. Be sure to check your stock u bolts because I had to replace my rusty old one. We actually torched them off cuz the boltz were not moving. Take that into consideration. But they do no ride rought of anything. They are good for a small lift. Good Luck
