Subject: Flowmaster 70 series or Gibson?
IP: Logged

Message:
First off, I've read every single exhaust related post on this board and still need some help. I narrowed it down to Flowmaster 70 series cat-back or a Gibson single swept side.

My criteria is as follows:
1) Quietest in the cab compared to stock
2) Very "MELLOW" sounding outside but "SLIGHTLY" louder than stock
3) HP gains

This is for my 2001 3.9LV6 CC Auto

Thank You

I put the Gibson Single side swept on my 2001 QC and am really happy with the sound. My brother went with the flowmaster and i personaly think it is to loud, and when at certain cruisin speeds it is really loud.

I HAD a Gibson on mine..... I thought it sounded like an old dump truck.

I put the 70 series Flowmaster on it and loved the sound. The 70 series is a 3 chamber and actually fairly quiet compared to most others. Given the choice... I'd buy another one.

I have a Gibson STAINLESS Split rear exit cat back system on my 99 dakota 4x4 w/5.2 and I love the sound the gibson puts out . The swept side exhaust uses the same muffler as the kit your looking at. I had noticed gains in power with the exhaust system but even more when I replaced the air filter with a K/N. My friend has the same truck as me and he has the flowmaster. They are both great mufflers but I've gotten more response from the Gibson. It sounds like a 5.0 stang-- AWESOME LOW TONE AND RUMBLE-- but not too loud in the interior or even with the windows all the way down. I recently put a High flow cat on made by Car-sound and it gave it an even deeper and more agressive tone. You choose. I prefer the Gibson setup!! If you order the Gibson setup you can find it at SummitRacing.com . I called 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers and they matched the price and gave me the free shipping!!!! GREAT DEAL!!!
