Subject: JBA Headers ?!

Message:
Ok, I have a 3.9 00' and wanted headers and from what bernd has told me ... jba is the only one that makes them.. which is fine. But I read some of those postings with everyone having problems with jba headers... So im kinda wondering now how they really are ? Please if you have or had JBA headers on your truck could you let me know how you made out with them!

I also talked to a guy at the dealer.. and he's someone that I deal with everytime im in there, and he said to get some sort of Aluminum plate that you can buy that acts as a seal between the headers and the engine ?? Does anyone know what im talking about ??

I just bought some, they won't be on the truck for another week or so yet. As soon as they are I'll post and let you know everything that I find out.

I put JBA's on my 5.2,the Y-pipe evbody complains about way easy for me,the passenger side was frist then I used a rachet strap hooked back to the frame to get it lined up and a jack to lift it in place and hold it when I put the bolts in.Use copper form a gasket on the Y-pipe before you put the headers in place. You will want to pull the heat shields off the plugs. The factory uses no gasket and the one JBA gives you is a good one but a fel-pro performance gasket for a 273,318,340 or 360 will work with one cut.

At least get headers from MOPAR--you also get the exhaust system for a bit more. Please tell me you didnt already put exhuast on this little 4.7 without consulting a mopar performance catalog first. If you have anything other than mopar than it proves dakota-tricker-uppers dont know anything. You shouldve at least got an R/T.

What little 4.7? Can't you find a muscle-car site to play on?

Do I waste my money on headers if I'm just an everyday driver? I've added a couple of mods so far like air intake, exhaust and a 180 Tstat. I like the extra power so far...so are headers worth all that money for just 8-10HP gain? Oh and I have a dual out 40 Series Flowmaster w/ 3-1/2" tips and it already sounds great, would the headers make it sound even better?

On the 3.9/5.2/5.9L...nope, they're not a waste of money. And in answer to the original question in this thread...the 3.9L headers are easy to install if you install the driver-side/rear bolt before you put them on the engine. I've had my JBA headers on for quite some time (originally the Nickle-Plated and then upgraded to the Ceramic-Coated...no leaks, problems, issues, what-so-ever).
