i've broken down and am going to get a kenne-bell supercharger for my 4.7 4x4 now that i've learned it doesn't void the warranty. however, i'm crazy and want to do a H.O conversion to my truck in the far future. Would the supercharger still be able to work if I do this? Has anybody attempted this H.O conversion yet? Finally, what should I get done before i supercharge my beast? Thanks in advance.

It dosent void the warranty???? how much power gain, how much boost, are there any other companies that don't void the warranty, does the dodge dealer have to install the blower?
sorry for all the questions but I'm in the market myself for a Dakota 2002 cc 4x4 and not too thrilled with the stock hp

The supercharger itself doesn't void the warranty, but try getting engine warranty work done with that SC on there, the dealer will laugh at you.

So in other words it pretty much voids the warranty? I knew it was to good to be true.

Pretty much any driveline warranty. The dealer will probably say that the driveline was not designed to handle the extra power, it was designed to handle stock power out put. Whitch is probably true since superchargers add lots of extra HP and torque.

Smart choice. I put the K.B. on my '98 5.2, and love it. It has added lots of HP and TQ. Lots of fun to drive around town, still have not had the chance to race anyone.

I put the KB on my 4.7, and i love it. A pain to install, but worth it. Im not even gonna try and confront the dealer about any drivline warrentys, i know they wont honor it in any way. Dont matter tho, when the trany finally blows up, i'll get that 5-sp that i need. And when the engine goes tits up, i'll save my pennys and get a Hemi or something. I look at it as, 'its the price you pay to go fast.' Over all tho, im glad i did it, and i'll never go back.

i know these are dumb questions to be asking, but do u guys know roughly how much of a decrease in gas mileage the sc gave u? Finally, i'm planning on keeping my truck for a long time. I don't push my truck at all (except every now and then) and if i put the sc on a modest setting, how reliable do u think the sc will be? Will the engine/driveline handle it? Also, if i NEEDED warranty work can i remove the sc and have noone be the wiser?

For you guys that want real numbers.
This is the 5.2, but you can expect similar % gains with similar boost and tuning.

Stock 220/300
7psi manifold pressure.
Dyno numbers 376/466 (calculated with drivetrain loss)

Can't go wrong with that.

Dave, a chip won't work with a supercharger because they usually add too much timing for boost. You could get one now, and sell it later I guess.

fot80, my mileage went down about 0.2 mpg. I would say thats mostly from the extra drag from spinning the charger, even when not under boost. As for reliability, as long as you set it up right your engine should last a long time. Your tranny on the other hand may need a little attention after some high powered miles. Also, with a supercharger, there is no modest setting. Its belt driven. You can detune it with a larger pully, but who would want to do that?

It seems that there are a lot of B&M and Eaton superchargers on Ebay, right now, that should be adequate for a 3.9.
