Duner, i knew someone had to have beat me to the custom home made turbo setup on a Dakota. I was wondering if you could answer ONE question for me about the space available in there.

is there a chance that a shaker hood setup like the one at http://www.profinish-proglass.com/thehoods/dodgeCompact.html would work with the turbo setup that you made?

my concern is that the under hood space is so limited that a pipe routing the compressed air from an intercooler back into the air intake route will not be possible with this type of air intake setup.

any thoughts you might have, even speculation, would be helpful.

nice looking truck, BTW

thanks.

Danimal - I have seen a few of the Shaker hoods. They really look nice and work well for a NA application. This is truly speculation on my part.... but I don't think it would work. You didn't say which engine you are using, but if you are trying to get the fresh air from the shaker, take it to the turbo, then to an intercooler and then back to the TB - it would probably be a problem. As it is on mine, I have moved things around to make room for the turbo outlet tube. At least with the 4.7 - space is limited by both the vertical height of the engine but also the width of the valve covers.

Thanks for the nod on my truck. Good luck on your project!

Duner, your post makes sense.

now that I think about it, i'm sure the shaker setup attaches almost directly to the TB on these engines, thus there would be no place for the return from the intercooler to hook up to.

that's a bummer cause those hoods do look sweet!

Duner,

Any more tweak & tune? Just curious if you have broken into the 12's yet.

I went to the track friday night but wasn't able to get into the 12s. I ran a 13.13 @ 105.66 and a 13.19 @ 105.55. I was at the track for 6 hours and only got in two runs. The track was packed and there were many breakages/oil downs during the night. All that didn't help the traction issue much either.

I'm working on the intercooler set-up, which should help quite a bit.
