I decided to bring this thread over from the Off Road Board. Responces could be usefull to all owners contemplating a SC.

Maybe I should take this to the Performance Board, I'm still more interested in what 4x4 owners think.

What advantage would the ATI have over the KB or the Paxton. I just finished reading an article in Truckin about the different types of superchargers, but I felt like they left me hanging at the end.

The ATI uses a centri. SC combined w/ an air cooled intercooler. This system supposedly works best when you what your power in the top end. I saw an install article for this also. The air cooler kind of hangs low and sccops from under the bumper. I don't think that's good for Off Road.

http://www.procharger.com/trucks.html

KB uses a screw type SC which is supposed to make more power in the lower and mid range. Truckin says this works better for heavy vehicles such as trucks and SUVs. My Dak is 4,600 pounds. In the realm of trucks and SUVs, is that heavy? KB doesn't have a web site yet. Are they a small company?

The ATI might make more power than the Paxton because of the Air Cooler.

Any preferances to a screw system vs a Centr. system? Power vs Reliability vs Price?

Sorry about the long message, but as more SC options become available for the 4.7, this thread may help others make an educated decision.

I have a 4x4 too and would also like more info on these systems, from what I`ve seen and past experience I would go with the ATI procharger,I had a ATI on a camaro and it worked very well,I have also used vortech before and had problems with it and i do not like the way it uses your engine oil as lube its a hassle to drill your oil pan.The Kenne Bell seems good but I have seen on this board people having problems with auto trannys with the KB S/C as far as paxton goes I have no experience with them, anyone have any info?for us supercharger freaks, I wanna hear that whine from the engine :)

If you read the ATI install article in truck'n, look at the horsepower gain. A whooping 27 rwhp. That can't be worth $4000.

I just finished fabricating and installing a single turbo kit on my 4.7. I will be shocked and disappointed if it doesn't increase the rearwheel hp and torque number by at least 150 hp! I will get it on a dyno just as soon as I can!

October 2001 issue. 98 Chevy Tahoe on a Mustang dyno made 275 rwhp(5000rpm) on the baseline run. After the install they made 302 rwhp(5500rpm). The claim that the 22" rims kept slipping on the "mustang" dyno after the install. It just doesn't seem right to me. Maybe vacuum leak or no boost??? I would be pissed if I spent that much for a kit and got 27 rwhp. Think about it; exhaust, headers, intake, and ignition would have gotten 27 horses easy. Not to mention the cash you'd have left.

Well guys....
Right now this thing runs like a raped ape at full throttle. The level of power is unbelievable. There is virtually zero turbo lag. The only tuning problem I am having as of now the drivability at part throttle. It's mainly due to my custom programmed pcm. It has as much ignition timing in it as it could handle without the turbo. Now that is has the turbo, it is too much timing when it's hot. The problem is ONLY before it get's to boost. When the FMU sees boost, it adds fuel and then everything is under control. I am going to buy a stock computer and then I'll know for sure whether I would trust selling a kit like this. I'll definately keep you all informed.

I can't wait to get it to the track!
