went to mopar day at lebenon valley today ,lots ofdakotas racing.my first time on the track ever.4.7 ,5spd,355 lsd,cc.went 15.51 at 88+. spun the tires hard off the line, with some practice i think i could knock a couple of tenths off that.BTW the truck is 100% STOCK. here's some othertrucks i saw.-RT 5.9 cc with a15.8 dial in. -RT 5.9 rc 14.9 dial.- 4.7 4wd 355 auto cc went 16.1. - 4.7 ,392, auto,rc with very short slicks went 14.84.- 4.7 5pd quad went 15.79. and lots more.quickest daks seem to be the modified gen 2 rc.sorry this is so hard to read . it was 300 mile round trip for me to get to the track,i'm happy i went ,now i know what it will do and have a baseline for mods. so stop posting 4.7 vs the world, get out to the track and give it a run.

sport,
Thanks a bunch for posting that info! Nothing beats REAL world track times. None of this "what if" stuff. I have not gone to the track (yet) but I need to so I know for sure what my Dak is capable of. I'm not concerned with beating any R/T's (i have a 4x2 4.7 QC 3.92 5spd) nor do I care if one is faster than the other.

After all... ANY Dak deserves respect! hehe.

Sport:Could not have said it better myself "stop posting 4.7 vs the world, get out to the track and give it a run" Right on!! And with that trap speed you should be able to get a 15.2 to a 15.3 with better traction, try lowering the tire pressure to about 24 or 26 lbs and buy a gallon of VHT trackbite and put some in a spray bottle and spray it on your rear tires tread right before you roll out onto the track,do a light 3 or 4 rotations burnout, and line it up.Works well.Elevation and weather conditions have alot to do with times also.Good luck.

at the track I only got three runs in. The first run I totally screwed up ,spun real bad ,pulled a Jeffster on the 1-2 shift then went from 2nd to 5th(something I had never done before) dropped it back to 3rd went 16.5 .Boy was I dissapionted in my driving. Second run was the 15.51 . Now it was time for eliminations.I felt the truck would et better with a softer launch ,but I was afraid to experiment since it was time to go racing!I dial in 15.4. Well I redlit with a .493 light ,spun the tires and ran 15.56 at 88+ mph. My day was over .The bottom line is I had a blast! Now I want to get back to the track before the season is over, just atest and tune to see if I can find those tenths Or should I say lose those tenths LOL.

My best time so far is 15.599 at 87 mph at Grandbend in Ontario, Took 2nd place in the truck trophy class! Got beat buy RC R/T running slicks dialed @14.9.

I ran street tires launched just off idle (800 rpm) hooked real good and got a little squeal in the first three gears.

Truck is RC 5.2l 5sp. w3.92 SG I haven't been driving stick long so I may have room to shave time with technique, but I'm not sure.

Bought the truck used so I don't know of any mods but it's pretty stock underhood paper filter and all, maybe it has exhaust (sounds too good to me).

My race season is over I've had my right hand in a cast for 10 weeks now. I was anxious to see if the Hurst comp shifter would have any effect on the track. Now, I'll have to wait till next year and by then I should have the battery relocated.

I can't wait!

Stay sane,
Stay Strong!

Middy.

Hey
I was at LVD for the Mopar day, and! i was the guy driving the 2k quad. The guy with the R/T dialed in with a 15.8 was a sandbagger, he was running 15.4 easy. I know my 4.7 is no 5.9 but it sure is fun. I wish i could make it go a little faster but i think a 15.7 for a tank it pretty good. I saw the same truck as mine in sport truck mag running 16.2, after a chip and cat back thing ran a 16.0. It was automatic. Mine has a Jet stage 2 plus gibson cat. When stock i ran a 15.85 with mods ran a 15.73.
A guy was talking to at the track he had a 2k RC with 4.7 i think 5 spd. He had homebrew intake and headers running 14.50 I was impressed.

This last weekend we had an impressive showing of Dodge trucks at the Truckin' Nationals in Phoenix AZ. We had over 30 Dakotas and 4 or 5 Rams also. The quickest Dakota was an R/T with a 408 Stroker engine running Nitrous. He went as quick as a 12.18 @ 116 mph! If he would have dipped into the 11s they would have sent him home because he didn't have a roll cage! That probably would have been OK with him.

14.40s on street tires is awesome! I can't wait for the temps to cool off around here. Racing in the heat sucks. I know I should be able to run some 12.80s or so next friday but it's not the same as having that timeslip in my hands.

My friend Scott has a RC R/T that's Vortech supercharged. He is running at least a half second quicker than I am and also about 3 or 4 mph faster. We kept racing each other in time trials. Since he was quicker than I was.... I kept leaving early (on purpose) hehehe. My reaction times were .10 to .15s all the time. If I could have just gotten him to cut a .7 light.... I might have beaten him to the finish line! LOL

Our last pass against each other yesterday was:

Scott 12.48 @ 109.45
Me 13.05 @ 106.09

I think I'm gonna like this turbo deal!

Hey Duner. Do you have an email address? I am very interested in your turbo set-up, and the problems you had preparing it. I am @ jhar318@swbell.net.

Or is it all a big secret?

Steve,Thanks, No, I've done a few things other than the TB. The 72mm TB is a new addition, and I don't have any new 1/4 times with Slicks to update that 14.23. Check out the message thread http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/per/1391.html

Its a pretty good documentation of what i've done to the truck to get to 14.23 .

We went to the Mopar Show & Race here in Houston, and got a good 1/4 mi. timeslip:

Reaction: .736
60': 1.676
330: 4.735
1/8: 7.330
MPH: 94.83
1000: 9.555
1/4: 11.559
MPH: 104.43

Not bad but the airhat blew off 1 1/2 seconds before the traps and Ron just coasted it in. We still have the stock 360 with head work and the speedpro computer.

Well, it's running, but not like Ron wants it to. Don't really know what to do about that. The tranny isn't shifting into OD. Sure sucked driving back home at 45 mph. I guess someone got a video of that run and I would love to see it!

That's about all that's wrong with it at this time. No internal damage to the engine as far as we know... I guess that piece of metal from the throttle body didn't fall in. We still haven't replaced that yet, Ron just drilled it and made a new bolt. Glad they cancelled the ICCB this last weekend! We wouldn't have been able to race the truck.

Still waiting on Randy to get us that belt he was talking about.

Anywayz... thanks for the concern!

TTYL!
