I finally got my Holley 52MM TB installed and it is so great.

I was told it would greatly enhance the exhaust improvements I have made (3" exhaust, headers, K&N drop in filter) and it did.

Very noticeable performance improvements from standing starts through max RPM shifts. (5.9L, Auto trans)

I'm sure its comparable to the Fastman, F&B Flowmetrics and Magnum Performance units I've read about.

I hope it improves my gas mileage so I can afford some new rear tires....

(Already ate up a Firebird today - good looking wool driver!!)

Hey, tell me more about these things you did. I just got a 97 5.2L v8 and added a K&N air filter, it made difference, but where I noticed an even bigger difference was when I took the snorkle off my air filter. It allows more air to come in from the front. Don't do it if you have a warranty though.

So far my performance mods include:

K&N drop in factory replacement filter
Jet Stage 2 Chip
Holley 52 mm Throttle Body
NAPA 180 thermostat
ASP underdrive crank pulley
Gibson 3" single side exhaust
Gibson SS headers
Escort radar detector

I had an Airaid TB spacer but removed it because it was smaller than the opening on the 52mm Holley Body. The concensus is that these do not effect performance. Maybe it was phsycological, but I thought it did help some...

Future plans include:
MSD ignition next (box and wires)
Roller rockers (probably 1.6 ratio so cam can be added later)
Improved air induction - either a K&N FIPK or a Shaker hood. I really like the Shaker hood, but it will cost close to a grand all totaled. OUCH

Maybe later on I will do a cam replacment

This power thing is so addictive. Once you get started, you can't get enough!!

I've got my 5.9L QC auto running pretty good. I haven't timed it, but have had several successful encounters on the street.

I buy most of my stuff through Truck Performance.com. I shop on the Internet then I phone in my orders to Eric (800.719.8100). He's good to work with and will (sometimes) discount prices even below the Internet price. If you ever have a problem (like a return) he takes care of it. I'm in Texas so I save about 7.5% in sales tax also.

I LOVE TO GET THOSE UPS/FEDEX BOXES!!!!!!!!

I have most of them shipped to my office so my wife doesn't see them all. Although, I believe that all modifications done so far have also resulted in a MPG increase. The problem is that it is difficult to drive without the heavy foot when you have the increased power. I'm getting 12.7 MPG in town with some freeway travel. But.....WHO CARES???

12.7 MPG??? WOW, that is sad. slow down! j/k When i drive the speed limit i save so much gas. But as the old saying goes, " you gotta let the horses out so they can run"...

but anyway,

I thought I would list my mods:

Electric Fan
Edelbrock Headers (Even with the Stock Muffler, it performs better, but i also added a new cat )
Tornado Air
Fuel Boss
Radiotor Additive
Radiator rust inhibitor
Jacobs Pro Street ignition system (WOW, I love it!)
Uniden Radar Detector
Triple wrapped A/C Cold lines (Now my A/c is like a freezer!)
Factory Replacement K&N Air Filter
New, Platinum coated Oxygen Sensor.
New Jacobs Wires
New 3923 Plugs

Planned Mods:
Electric Heater ( the engine takes forever toheat up, so i'm adding an electric heater to defrost more quickly since i'm always late.)

My mods have cost me a lot, but I think it was worth it. My old Dak is my pet, I gotta take care of it. But now, I can actually keep up with traffic going up a hill. I have more power w hile using a lot less gas. So the mods should pay for themselves eventually.

I Love UPS, USPS, and Fedex boxes, too! I'm addicted!

Hey Bill,
Did the new TB come with new sensors or did you have to transfer them off of the OEM TB. The Flometrics TB's use some of the parts of the original TB.
I'd pay the extra $$$ for the Holley if it has new sensors and could have the originals for backup. (If they would even fit in the Holley)

The Holley did not come with any sensors. I transferred them from the OEM TB. Real easy.

The factory throttle bracket had to be slightly modified to accomodate the Holley TB (clearly explained in instructions). This was not difficult using a hacksaw or grinder. You just have to remove a 3/8" x 3/8" notch out of the bracket.

I have not seen any of the other manufacturers TBs, other than in photos. I know that some manufacturers (such as Magnum Performance, Hughes, etc) rework the OEM TB. This probably results in the same (or even better) finished specs as the Holley.

The Holley TB is a massive, solid "chunk" of highly polished aluminum. It makes the factory TB look and feel wimpy. It's so purty, I hated to cover it up with the air intake bonnet.

I did have a problem with the first Holley TB I received and had to return it for a prompt replacement through Truck Performance.com. It did not have all three "pegs" for the throttle cables.

After all is said and done, I love the Holley. I can tell a definate performance power improvement. She talks loud when hitting second gear (auto). Hopefully, I'll notice an MPG improvement if I ever get over the power trip....
