Is it easy to replace, and what is the part number please? Also wondering how hard it is to change my plugs on the ol' 4.7? I have 34,000 miles on it.
Thanks DStarr

According to the service manual, the fuel filter is a filter and pressure regulator combo that is mounted on the top of the fuel pump module, which is mounted on the top of the fuel tank. The manual also says that it is designed for extended service, does not require scheduled maintenance, and the filter should only be replaced if a diagnostic procedure indicates to do so. So to replace the filter, you'd have to drain and drop the gas tank. The text and diagram also show a "special tool" required to remove the pump module. My read on this: pain in the behind and not worth the effort unless you absolutely have to do it.

Plugs are a pain as well. The air hat has to be removed so that a couple of AC lines can be shoved out of the way. This has to be done so that the coils on two of the cylinders can be unbolted, giving access to the plugs. I've changed my plugs once so far and it took about 45 minutes, but I was in no hurry.

Thanks Dan. I was wondering why the owners manual did not even mention the fuel filter. My truck runs strong. Do you think that I need to change the plugs @ 34,000 miles? Also did you use the Autolite plugs frequently mentioned here?
Thanks for any answers.
