Can't wait to hear the results. I've been trying to decide which intake to go with. I am wondering what the difference might be compared to the other types like TonyD which don't extend to the front of the engine compartment but are only $160.

Yes please let us know the difference....i have
been considering one also, or even K&n's...but i
have a hard time dealing with the price....i tried
something on mine today...i took the hat off of
the TB and created my own elbow and extension to
the filter box....so i will see if there is any
difference with just taht.....since the air hat
has passages in it....maybe with more air i will
get somethign out of it.....we will see....

All right boys and girls here's the post with the butt dyno results....First off i just want to say this is a VERY easy kit to install, except for removing the cruise control bracket(I couldn't find a deep well 10mm socket). Upon inital results I give it 2 Thumbs up, right out of the garage I felt in increse in power. There is also a difference in sound, a nice deeper rumble at idle and a TRUE V8 sound at WOT...I would recomend it to anyone thinking of getting a intake system...

its killin' me to learn about all these easy mods but I have one question. We got our 2000 dakota 4.7L new and it is still under the 36,000 mile warranty. We have 12000 miles on it now. Will a ztube and/or a catback system void the warranty???

No. http://www.sema.org/warranty

On the 2000 model, see about getting a 2001 68mm TB on there instead. You'd be surprised on the performance! :)

Is the 2001 TB something a rookie like me can install? Cost? Where can I get one with preference through ordering through the internet.

It's a simple "bolt on". You can get the TB at your local dealer. Just ask for a 2001 TB.

I was reading the infomation on the Z-Tube and the fine print said it was not CARB approved.

1. What is 'CARB'?
2. Does 'CARB' have anything to do with emissions regulations? (I really dont care to much but with each state inspection we have a tail pipe sniffer test)

California Air Resouces Board, they give emission exemption numbers for aftermarket parts. Unless you live in California, you should be ok. California has very strict laws, check with the local DMV though to make sure before spending money on something without a CARB exemption number.

Takes 10 min to change out the TB, tool you need if an 8mm socket. That's it.

There is a stap on the top of the TB
53013241AC is a 65mm
53013163AA is a 68mm

Also it's stamped with the size on the blade. You will need to use a mirror to see it.
