How hard would it be to put a Ram 5.9L in a 98 Dakota Sport that has a V6 in it now? I would be getting the full motor, tranny, computer and harnesses from the ram for $2,000. It is already built inside and out ready for NOS. I need input please!!

I think that as long as the tranny is the same that the dakota/durango has it should work.

I think there is a slight difference in the tranny's! But I am not sure on that. Can anyone else lend an opinion?

Get the VIN number from the Ram and call the dealership parts dept. With the VIN they can tell you what trans it is. You would need a 46RE to fit in the Dakota right. And if it isnt a 46RE I would try to find one and trade the Ram's tranny for it.

No I believe the 5.2L is a NV3500 vs the 3.9L having an AX-15

3.9L had a 42RE, 5.2L had a 44RE, 5.9L has a 46RE
The 42 and 44 are just about the same except the the 44RE has better clutch pack and more discs in the clutch pack. The 46RE is totaly diffrent valve body and all
