 Subject: Z-tube mileage

I've had a Z-tube on my 4.7 for 2 months now and the best mpg I get is around 10-12 (city). No long highway runs just yet. I reset the PCM like everyone suggested. I only have 2,800 miles on my '01 Dak and I even switched to Mobil 1 @ 2,500 miles. Did I forget something? I mean DUH! More air flow = more fuel but my average mpg dropped about 4-5 mpg! Is this normal? P.S. I purposely DON'T "put my foot in it" either - even though I really like the sound (and thrust)!

I have similar results, 2 months ago, installed z-tube, 3923s, and a RS 180 t-stat.
Prior to installs, best MPG via overhead showed 18.1 (with Flowmaster SUV 50 series dual cat-back and Jet Chip II)
Now with about 2500 miles, I might hit 17.1 MPG (Highway) (still using dino oil 10w30, Royal Purple 5w30 goes in mid-September)
There is some right foot involved, have yet been able to stay out of it to see if MPG increases, too much fun listening to the sound and feeling the punch of my 4.7
I think I've seen more posts blaming the chip instead of the z-tube for decrease in MPG, but I believe you don't have the chip.
Perhaps try driving a little more conservative or match your driving habits before install of the z-tube (maybe reset the PCM again) and see what happens...I also try to stay with the same grade and manufacture of gas (Mobil 89...was using Mobil 93 at first, considered that a waste)

I have an '01 Dodge Dakota QC with 4.7 and automatic transmission. The truck has about 7,000 miles on it. Have installed Z-Tube, RS 180 t-stat,
Borla muffler and am running Mobile 1 10-30 weight. Anyway, I usually get 17.8 on the freeway and 14.5 approx. around town.
