 Subject: Just INSTALLED my JBA Headers!! Oh baby

Well ladys and gents, I just installed my brand new JBA headers for my 5.2L 99' Dakota!! And you know what, I did lose something... something we've all had at one point of time or another... dead spots!!! I now have full amounts of power from the get go!! No more uhm... ok lets go! Now it's all go!! Go baby Go!! Horse power gain, I'm going to say yes, not gobs and gobs of it, but I would say 95% improvement over the stock!! I haven't hit the freeway yet or gone over 45 mph but soon young grasshopper, soon!
Any ways, enough praise over them, now some gripes. Getting the manifolds off were a cinch! Very easy. Getting the headers on, hmmm... lets just say I cursed like a sailor a couple of times. The driver side, not bad, easy. The passenger side, hell, complete hell. Totally did not fit like I thought it would. No choice but to take off the airbox, no prob. The coil came off as well, no prob. took spark plug wires out which made it a tad easier. The new header bolts were extremly difficult to get in, I mean tediaus. But it was done.
Just have one question. The big black cylinder on the passenger side that doesn't allow the header to actually fit comfortably, what is that? My dad says it is part of the A/C but it stock form it rests on the header itself. My dad repositioned it about 1/4 inch away from the loop but is still in position to melt. What do I do?? Will it explode? Is it fine since it is not touching the header? It's close but not touching. Also, after rerouting the sparkplug wires, there is about 5/8 inch space inbetween them and the headers. Will they fry? I am getting new ones when I make up my mind but will the old ones survive?? They arent touching the header but somewhat close.
If anybody could help with those two questions my father and I would be greatful!!

The black cylinder is the A/C accumulator. It won't melt it is made of aluminum and shouldn't affect A/C performance as it is on the low pressure side of the system. Just make sure the headers doesn't rub a hole in or you will lose the A/C and they aren't cheap to replace.

Thanks CW for the advice! That makes my dad feel better. I'll just have to keep an eye on everything more then I did last time.

When I put on my JBA headers I had similar concerns. I repositioned my accumulator as far away as possible. I had some heat blanket that I put on it near the header. As for the wires, I found some plug wire covers made for a car with headers. Put the covers on, pulled them as far away as possible and have had no problems. I also got some 12 point headed bolts to put where I could not properly tighten the ones that came with the headers. They work great. I have extras if you or anyone else needs some.
