Need some help on this one. I got the following email from MSD;

Sir
We currently offer the MSD DIS4 PN# 6215 for your application. We do not sell direct, so we do not have retail pricing. We recommend that you contact your local speed shop or MSD supplier to get pricing. We have a list of dealers on our web page that will help you find a dealer in your area. It would be cheaper if you get pricing and availability through an MSD Dealer our prices are 30 to 40% higher, the following is the website address for the list of dealers that you can contact for pricing. www.msdignition.com

THANK YOU

MSD TECH.

Has anyone tried this system on a 4.7 and if so what performance gains came out of it. Any info would be appreciated.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the 4.7 have a coil for EACH spark plug?? If so the DIS4 wouldn't work, as it is for engines that have 3-4 coil packs. The 4.7 would have 8 coil packs.

Hey PeTeR F. - I went to the MSD site and couldn't fine anything about the Eight-Channel PN 7020. Where did you find any info about it?

I emailed MSD about a boost retard ignition set-up on my 4.7 and they emailed back that I would need (2) DIS4 #6215 @ 329.95 ea + (4) tach adapters #8912 @ 49.50 ea + (2) Multi-Channel Boost Retards #6562 @ 376.69 for a grand total of $1611.28!

That's not gonna happen! hahaha

Thanks for the addy. I emailed the tech support guys again and asked them why they didn't reccommend the 8-channel for my application. I'll let you guys know what they tell me when they get back to me.

MSD tech just emailed me back. I asked them why I couldn't use the 8-channel stacker instead of 2 of the 4-channel boxes. The answer was that the 8-channel stacker doesn't have any timing features. Therefore it wouldn't have any capabilities for a boost retard. They said they are working on a DIS unit that would work.....and said it hopefully would be available by the end of the year.

What if you dont want Boost Retard. Its very interesting how nobody knows anything about this ignition system. Dodge Techs cant even answer questions about it.(shift light)

My logic: if I have 8 coil packs and MSD makes an 8 coil pack ignition system....That's the one I need. Jacobs tried there very best to sell me a system that included spark plug wires???? "OOOOO you have a DIS on your truck. So theres no spark plug wires? It still works though." HA, had to tell them no thanks.

Truckperformance.com has it listed under the 2000 4.7L Dakota. I can see it now "We're sorry sir but you cant return it." I wont be the first to try it.

I guess I have to buy the Checkmate.
