I had a vortex installed on my 00 ram 360 CI. This muffler has a better sound than the Flowmaster, but does cut a little power off the line. It really makes up for the low end power loss in the higher RPM's. Which is good for me since I do a lot of mountain driving. Hope this helps

I have a 1990 Ford F-150 with the 351 V8. I wanted to put dual exhaust on it to add some performance and give my truck that deep throaty sound of my dad 1998 K1500 Z71. He has true dual with two cherry bomb glass packs (that I installed for his Father's Day gift). I work at a auto parts store and have access to many different exhaust systems. I found out that my warehouse carries the vortex muffler, and the pipes I need to do my dual exhaust. I ordered the parts I needed and installed them myself. Total cost came to about $120 (with employee discount). The truck has a nice mellow rumble at 900RPM idle. It sounds very nice at cruising speed, and talkes pretty good at 3000+RPM. For not being a "true" dual system it sure sounds like it. They sound just like a flowmaster 40 series, even a little more throaty because they are steel wool, and fiberglass packed. A great muffler that you don't see too many of. I would recomend them to anyone who wants a nice "dual exhaust" tone, and wants to run a muffler that people may have not hear about before. So far, I have sold 5 people on why they should run Vortex mufflers. And I havn't had one complain yet.

The Vortex muffler in my opinion suck. 2 of my friends have them on their chev and ford and they are very mellow. Plus one of them has holes in it after maybe a year and a half now. I have a 40 series and there is no comparison, the flowmaster barks, it doesn't sound like a glorified exhaust leak. I drive in the same conditions they do every day and mine is fine.

I was wondering if anyone knew if i could put ANY headers or mufflers on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7L? is that possible to put like some hooker headers on it with a hooker muffler?, even though "Hooker" doesnt make any special applications for the Cherokee. Could i still try to fit something on it from hooker? Need help - thanks guys , Andy

Hi I'm Eryn and I am a 20/f that knows very little about cars. I drive a 4 cylander 97 Chevy Cavalier and put on a turbo muffler from Minakie...(however you spell that.) This muffler sucked pretty much though...And I went to Minekie and asked them if I can exchange for anther muffler. (The turbo one was 120 $) Well they asked for another 150$ including installment for the Vortex Cherry bomb. As wonderful as this muffler is, that's pretty damn expensive. (250$!) But it sounds good and does turn heads when I drive by. But I was wondering if this muffler effects my car in any way as a 4 cylander, and if it does anything to my gas milegage and horsepower. Also, without spending huge amounts of cash, how could I make it a tiny bit louder? (Don't say the ghetto way of drilling a hole in it LoL) Please get back to me on this by email or reply... ErynL33@hotmail.com Thank you very much :)

Eryn

The Flowmaster 40 is essential. If you have a truck or jeep and want to save some money...go with the Cherry bomb and slap in a dual...you won't have the throaty Vrrrooom but you'll have one close that sounds like bbbrrrraaaaam. Sorry but that's the best I can express it. I got the Cherry bombs on my Stang...biggest mistake ever. If I get myself a Ram or a Dakota...I will definately swap the vortex and get myself a good Flowmasters or MACs on my Stang.

Cheers.

I HAVE ALWAYS USED FLOWMASTER. LOVE THEM. I JUST TRADED MY 502 BIG BLOCK SUBURBAN FOR A HUMMER H2 WITH A 363 6.0 LITRE. I HEARD ANOTHER ONE AND IT HAD DUAL VORTEX MUFFLERS AND I AM CONSIDERING USING THE SAME BECAUSE IT HAD A LOUD DEEP RUMBLE. NOT SURE IF I SHOULD GO WITH THE VORTEX LIKE I ALREADY HEARD OR TRY THE BORLA. I BELIEVE IN "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" AND GOT TO PAY TO RUN WITH THE "BIG BOYS" AND THIER TOYS. ARE THE VORTEX JUNK COMPARED TO BORLA? I WANT IT LOUD BUT NOT HIGH PITCH.

Cherry Bomb glass packs any good?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 92 chevy with a 350ci V8, I was considering getting true duels with glass packs rather than flowmasters or another free flow muffler. Is the mellow tone of the Cherry Bomb glass packs a good idea or should I go with the deep rumble of another muffler (ex. 40series flowmasters)?

I have a 99 4Runner, I'm thinking of either the Flowmaster 40 series, or a Vortex Cherry Bomb. Which do you think is better? And will the Vortex Cherry Bomb lose hp in low rpms, and lose gas milage?
