I have a Dakota R/T with bolt on mods, And I was wondering if you can tow with the MP PCM at all. I have a snowmobile (375# race weight) and a 2 place aluminum trailer. I want to tow it to the races if I decide to drive it this winter. I mean were looking at mabey 1300 # with trailer. I would like to think it would not detonate under those conditions.

Thanks,

John

It should be fine. Especially with the cooler temps of winter. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

How about general towing all year around? My 5.9L Grand Cherokee is rated at 5000 lbs. What is the max I can tow after the Mopar PCM?

Thanks

DC doesn't recommend any towing with their performance pcm. I think as long as it isn't pinging - it's just fine. The engine actually tows better because the timing is advanced giving it more torque to work with.

I am towing a 3000 lb. + boat with no problems and I don't even use premium gas. I Have a '99 5.2 auto/3.92 and 180 t-stat. She may ping a time or 2 when I climb hills pulling the boat in overdrive. I'm Louisiana where it is ~95 degrees and the A/C is always on. With premium gas there is no pings. I use 89 octane and carry some octane booster to put in it when I pull.
