Does anyone know where to find this product? I could not find it on the Summit page. It is used for wrapping your a/c lines for extra insulation.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

From Summit, follow the link to Design Engineering (under manufacturers), from their web site, you can find the part numbers, then go back to Summit and enter them in under the part number search (it will find them). Clunky, but it works.

Sorry about that...

I used Heat Sheath (DEI-010404) around the A/C lines and Cool-Tube (DEI-010414), around the two "front" plug wires on each side (put both wires in the same tube). I also put the Air Tube Cover Kit (DEI-010417)around my FIPK and used the extra (it's cut to fit and runs long) to wrap my A/C evap can.

Did you notice a difference after wrapping all these items?

Nothing in particular on the FIPK, but a very noticeable difference on the A/C.
a) Turn it on after you've been driving a while and you don’t get that long, long blast of hot air before it cools off
b) The air coming out of the vents is much colder (took the wrap back off and compared, just to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating)
c) The compressor runs less, cycles more
d) When you run in Vent mode, the air isn’t 100* hotter than the air outside.

Yeah - it's split lengthwise and closes with Velcro. I put the Velcro side against the headers, since that puts a double thickness next to the hottest part.

The Cool Tubes are like hard plastic wire loom covered in the Heat Sheath material.

Donald, Your A/C is horrible because it uses that new 134a refridgerant. You can thank DuPont for that! Their patent on Freon was running out and they convinced Congress to outlaw Freon so they could force their "replacement" 134a on the innocent public, they also get another 30 years patent protection.134a is crap compared to regular R-12.Not near as effecient!

I noticed on my mom's 95 Caravan the a/c lines are partially insulated (just the rubber hoses are insulated, not the metal tubing) with a black foam tube while my dad's 98 Voyager the a/c lines are also partially insulated with the plastic convulute plus the black foam tube.

It's funny how Chrysler didn't insulte the a/c lines in the Daks.

Has anyone tried insulating their a/c lines with the black foam tubing ? It maybe cheaper than buying the DEI cool wrap; besides, can't even find anything remotely close to the DEI products up here in Canada, only something from a company called Cool It Thermo Tec.

I got a high performance catalog at the local Carquest store. It carries the complete line of DEI products. I am also pretty sure that Summit carries it is their catalog. You should call them and ask.

Hot RT :

Thanks for the tip about Summit; I've already checked out their website and priced out the DEI products I need, and it came out to 150 US = 240 CDN.

This is a tough decision, do I spend money on better a/c performance or do I spend the money for better engine mods (like Borg Warner cap & rotor, Taylor/JBA spark plug wires, K&N FIPK, ...).

At least the 134a doesn't kill the Ozone.. and besides my Dak is an 87, years before 134a was invented. It is the conversion box that is most of the problem as it cuts off air flow.

I got some of the wrap and it helped a little... but i wasn't satisfied so i went to the grocery store and bought a small roll of aluminum foil and wrapped 1/2 over the Dei Wrap. It doesn't look all that great, but MY a/c cools wonderfully. The air is frigid. Now i can run the fan on low and it still keeps the truck cool!

Don't mean to sound naive about this, but would love a photo of where to wrap the stuff. My a/c and vent is always hot, so it needs help. Just not quite sure which lines you are referring to. Any digi photos available? Feel free to email straight to me if too large to put up on the site.

Many thanx,

Mark
