Gentlemen,
I have owned a 1987 Dakota for 3 years and have had several issues with the carburetion, emissions controls and gas mile consumption. In portions of Ohio vehicles have to pass an E-check become liscensed. My '87 Dakota has never passed om it's own, I think the people at the E-check station were just sick of seeing me.
Through many trail and error efforts, I have come to the conclusion that the o2 feedback solinoid may be the trouble. The vehicle runs rich and gets apprx. 9 mpg, that sucks considering that when my sister owned it it got approx. 15-17mpg.
Does anyone have any info. or experience with the o2 feedback solonoid? Or is there anyway to replace this mess with an aftermarket carb.
PLEASE HELP!
