Anybody else seen the Dana 60 bolt in rears for Dakotas and Durangos that DTS
(Drive train Specialist) are now offering??? I've got a request in for
pricing.
I'm wondering if you can get it with drum brakes, to cut down on the cost.
Check it out http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com/index2.htm
the rear end pictured on there Home page is the Dakota rear, LOOKS SWEET with
disks and an Aluminum cover!!

Maybe the Dana will hold a 3500 rpm clutch dump, with a 1.88 60' time??? :)
Grin <<< cause the 9 1/4 sure won't!!

I guess the trans will be next??

You could always go with a Ford 9". They have more parts for that than any other rear end. We use them on our 4x4s. There were so many of them that it would be easy to find one with the correct width. Then all you would have to do is mount the spring pads in the correct place. I've installed several of these on different 4x4's and it really isn't that hard. And don't forget how easy gear changes are with them. Just a thought.

Well, the spider gears exploded, I mean, EXPLODED!!, and a chunk got caught between the carrier and the main bearing, it machined a 1/4" out of my main bearing surface, so I had to replace the entire rear end, housing and all!!
Ouch, about $1050, and that was housing, gears, and posi unit, assembled from Chrysler, and the dealer sold it at cost, or dam close to it.
It took about 130 passes to break, dumping the clutch at 3500 rpms with slicks, hee hee, I was surprised the clutch and trans did'nt go first??!!

The Ford 9" is a good idea, but you can't use your anti lock brakes then. I guess you could ride with a check engine light on all the time, but it won't pass state inspection with a light on. Also lose your 6 bolt pattern, which may not be a bad thing :)
