Hi im in high school and for one of my classes we have to complete a worksheet on the decision making process and we had to make a decision on what we would like to buy in our future and i chose a Dodge 1500 Cummins Turbo Diesel and then we had to pick an alternative for that decision and i then chose a Dodge Dakota. all im needing is the pros and cons of the Dodge Dakota being compared to the Dodge 1500 Cummins Turbo Diesal. Any info would be greatly appreciated THANKS!! :)

Jessica, good to "see" you on the Dakota Forum!!This is a very old forum with little movement, some front page posts are years old!!Hope this dosent discourage you though.I have owned three Dakotas;'89 Dakota 4x4 with a 3.9 V6,a bit underpowered but I had no issues with it.A '95 Dakota excab 4x4 I got from a dealer that the 4x4 did not work, heat did not work, few other issues. Now I have a '99 Dakota Sport 4x4 Excab with the 5.2 V8,a power everything truck, love the truck.I did a 3" body lift and fit 33x12.5 Maxxis Bighorn off road tires on it.

Well whom ever the poser, he still lacks the brain cells to post something interesting.

There are more cons than pros Jessica (Jessica Heap?) unfortunately you’ll have to buy a Ram or an F-150 if you want better reliability.

My 1993 with 196k miles is pretty reliable. I also have a 1994 F250 with 125k miles and that is way less reliable.

Well, I have not too many complaints regarding my 02, but since we are talking about new trucks. I'll have you to know that if the opportunity ever arrives, I'll be trading for a F-150 with the Ecoboost engine, just awesome!!

Mark, I take it you don't use your Dakota all durring the week, but just for week-end trips. I had a 95 with over 268K miles. I was great as long as you replaced all the worn out parts every so often.

I drive a 2000 Dakota Sport. I have put 160K on it and have never had a single problem with it. I have replaced the shocks, brakes, filters and an oil change every 3000 miles. One of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I drive it as a work vehicle, and a play vehicle...On and off road in the snow, mud and sand in the Idaho desert. Mileage kind of sucks but it is probably how I drive... foot to the floor all the time. (haha)

Good website! First time here.

David
