I have an 88 Dakota with the 3.9L engine and its approaching 450k miles. It has a blown oil control ring on the first cylinder so i figure its time to rebuild it. However i figure if i rebuild it id like to make it push out more than a meager 125hp/195 lb.ft torque. Im having any difficulty finding any performance parts pertaining to the LA head design of this motor. Money is a little too tight to drop in a modded V8, but i do have a 94 dakota with a 3.9l that ive been using for body parts. Block is cracked on that motor so it's unusable. I am very capable of doing the work myself except the machine work that will be needed. So let me get down to what im looking to do.

Is it possible to stroke this motor? and if so where can i get the proper crank and rods?
Should i look at swapping the intake manifold, injectors, computer, and heads from the 94 if it will work? Or would i be better served going to a carb?
If i do any work to the head, should i port the heads and put in a larger valves?
What other options can i look at?
Ive talked to krc about cam work and will probably have my cam sent off to be reground.

Im shooting for around 200 HP/250 lb.ft torque if it helps.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

the stroker kits are NOT being made anymore

and if you want more power use the V6 magnum motor
or a V8
