im stuck with an auto tranny, so theres not much i can do when it comes 2 that, but what ways are there to improve acceleration? im happy with my top speed, but when passing or trying 2 really open it up, it just feels sluggish(always has) i put in a cold air intake, relocated the intake sensor, removed the clutch fan(its an 01 so it has the electric fan also)
what other things can i do 2 get a quicker response? im looking along the lines of tuning, not adding parts since i am literally broke, i will put in new platinum spark plugs this week, but what else can i do tuning wise to get better acceleration? i wanna step on the gas and get thrown back in 2 my seat moreso than i am right now, any and all tips are welcome, im completely out of ideas

face the facts. a 3.9/auto is not gonna throw you back in the seat unless you spend a few grand on the engine. higher "numercially" rear gears like 4.10: or 4.56:1 will help.
have you done the CPS mod? Do you have a Superchips or some other tuner? 1.7:1 rockers will help a little. all this, with exception of the CPS mod, will cost money.

no ive never even heard of the cps mod, wut is it? and im not expecting immense power without chiping the ecu n supercharing and expensive stuff like that, just looking to do what i can with what i got, might convert it to manual, but thats a big maybe

There are three simple things to do that will make a significant improvement without a huge investment:
1. Retune the computer. I used Hypertech, and that made a big differance.
2. Lower gears. Not sure what stock is on that car. But at least drop to 3.92, and consider 4.10.
3. Rocker arms. What you have now are 1.5:1 non-roller. By swapping those out for Viper 1.6 ratio arms you'll get a little better power. It's like installing a slightly better cam. Sould cost you <$100.

the cps mod sounds nice, but the gas prices would b where the cost comes in2 play, i can barely afford unleaded prices, avdvancing the timing would take me 2 premium and i cant do that yet, when i got more money mayb

thats the good thing about the CPS mod. if it gives you any trouble, you can put it back in the stock position. a v8 TB is prettry much a direct bolt on and if you can keep your foot out of it your mileage will stay the same maybe even a little better.

well i think the v8 body swap sounds nice, but i cant seem 2 find a throttle body near me, or 1 shipped, ebay doesnt have any either
anybody got 1 or know where to get 1?

maybe a throttle cable. depends, i bought one from someone and i didn't need to buy the cable. mines a 5 speed manual.
it might be a good idea when you get the v8 TB to compare the linkage to what you have on your truck now. of course you'll need to swap your sensors onto the v8 TB since you know they're working properly.
a new TB gasket would be good. you should be able to get the TB for around 30-40 bucks.
may i give a little advice here. it seems you've been quite busy reading here and wanting to mod your truck and that is good but, take a little time. read thru things. if you're not mechanically inclined take your time. we'll be here if you have any questions. it's good to see some enthusiasm here for a change.

well i do search online and i have the manuals, but when it comes to modifications, no1s gonna have better advice than people who have done it themselves
i have a 4pd auto, so i probably need the cable as well
