I put in a 5.9 Mag. in my 1993 dak, Now the headers are glowing red hot. Running lean. Does anyone have any Ideas if a 1994 5.9 pcm will work and what is everyone else doing for a pcm when they swap a 5.2 for a 5.9.

I appreciate everyones Ideas and or input.

Believe it or not, glowing headers is an indication that you're running rich and/or late timing.

Whatever year vehicle the engine came out of is what year PCM you should be using.

Well, it cam out of a 94. But seeing as the only thing that came from that year was the block. Now that being said, I know the timing curves and fuel curves are not right.Because I am using a 5.2 performance pcm. So will a 1994 5.9 pcm work with my 1993 pin config. I do believe the timing is late, but since the pcm is controlling it, I know I need the 5.9 pcm. I can't do anything after 1995 because the wiring harness is not the same. Well I shouldn't say I can't. I don't really want to convert to OBDII. Thanks guys for your input.

I was under the impression that a glowing red exhaust manifold could be caused by a lean condition too. Never heard of running rich causing that. Reading your plugs will tell.
