Im having problems with pressure in my engine. twice today I had oil leaking because of a blown hose or out the oil cap. Does anyone know what may be causing this? There is also oil in my hat and the rim of my TB. Mechanic says cracked ring. Im hoping there is a cheaper solution. Any idea how much to fix this? better off buying rebuilt engine? This engine only has around 50,000 miles on it since rebuild. Anyone want a 97 5.2?

Have you checked the cylinders for compression ?
Mechanic could be right - I had a holed piston in a motorcycle once - it made the engine pump the oil out out the vent tube, similar to what you are experiencing. Those magnum 5.2s are known for leaky belly pan gaskets too, but usually just run worse with oil visible looking down the TB into the intake. Bad ring like that should show up in a compression test.

Yeah, I'd check the PCV valve first.

Pcv is fine. went to dealer for compression test and all cylenders were within tolerance. Mechanic suggested intake pan gasket. possible some got sucked into engine. this would also explain two of my other postings, a walk in my idle and my poor poor gas milage. Has anyone replaced the intake pan gasket before? is it something i should attempt with only limited knowledge? If I were to take it to a mechanic what could I expect to pay? Thanks guys

Don't know your definition of limited. Have you changed an intake before? In vehicle? Pay? Probably out the wazoo.

o.k. hold on a sec. where exactly is the oil coming out, and on which side, or is it coming up through the intake? you should be able to clean everything up really well, then take the rpm's up and look to see where it's coming from. if it's the intake valley gasket, then it's no big deal, just post for help, very easy.

It was the intake manifold gasket. My truck had the intake pan welded on. Idle walk is finally gone.
