gotta buddy who just bought a 04' Quadcab 4x4 Ram with a hemi, he thinks he total hot $hit lol. He even stole my glasspack muffler off my old dakota and put it on his truck and constantly talks crap about how hes faster than me and everything...and ya know...to me, that truck really doesnt seem that quick, he cant even do a decent burnout at all...so its time for a damn race!

i gotta black 99' CC RT with a hypertech tuner, thats it.

can i take em? atleast to 60-70 or so? i mean his truck has gotta be WAY heavier than mine

you should be able to, if you had the 4.7, hypertech, and a manual, then for sure.

That things a pig. If all he did was the glasspack then you should take him no problem. Unless you don't know how to drive. I race my buddies Hemi Ram every couple of months when we drive to school. I had no problems walkin on him when I was stock. Now that I have more mods, its not worth wasting my gas.

Out here at the Speedworld Raceway those pigs run in the 16's when bone stock, nothing special at all.

A programmer and a few things seem to get a second or so off of the 1/4 easily though then you have to watch out. I just couldn't believe how slow they are bone stock though. Hemi badge and all it was sad. Most 2WD V8 Dak's could take a stock Hemi QC Ram easy yet alone a 4X4.

You have serious doubts about "taking him," so most likely you won't

What do you consider a "decent burnout"?

I think you can blame the drive by wire coupled with a stock pcm for the lack of a good burnout. Otherwise the potential is there.

I had a '04 Hemi QC 4x4, and it wasn't anything special. It could tow like a mutha, but it wasn't fast by any means. My Dakota would walk all over that truck.

Graphite, you're right. The drive by wire is part of the problem. The throttle response sucks on those things.

I thought that is what the full-size GMs use and I have not heard any problems out of them.

There aren't any problems to speak of, but the throttle response is much better with an actual cable opening the throttle plates on the TB.

There's a delay when press the gas pedal down because the PCM has to determine the position of the pedal, and then open the throttle plates accordingly.

im not having SERIOUS doubts about takin him i never said that, all i said was "can i" and "not very impressed" lol....

yeah he was mentioning he didnt have much throttle response as well but the mid-range speed was really good.

its that same way with my new RT though...compared to my previous dak anyways...i had a CC 4.7 auto with intake only and now comparing the two they are alot more different than i thought...the RT obviously has more power i could feel that, but my old 4.7 felt alot more peppy on the throttle, i could mash it and it'd just GO, but with the RT it hesitates then goes, they both have the same amount of miles(RT has 1,500 less), idk what the deal is. could of been the way the RT was drivin the last 100,000 because i got it from a used car dealership in austin, it was clean as hell, including the engine and underneath, and drove great but i still hate trusting those bastards. my 4.7 on the otherhand was owned by a old lady its whole life and had ONLY highway miles from texas to maine yearly
