i have a 91 dakota LE 130k , just installed a new Aero 3030 muffler and have a turndown after it. Sounds great. But now i want to improve the engine not to much on the mechanical side so ill have to take it to a shop. But if i go there and ask them whats needed to be done, they will prolly charge me a few grand of repairs/upgrades of stuff i really dont need. But i just want to overall improve the engines life span as i feel it might only have 40-50k left on. I would like about 100-150k without having to replace the engine itself. Any ideas?

Flush the engine and put in a good synthetic oil. Be warned if u have any oil leaks now they will get worse.

There ARE tons of parts for the LA smallblock, but ones that will work with the stock fuel injection? Thin. Low restriction air intake, low restriction exhaust, slightly more cam, but not much more.

Didn't want to sound like I was contradicting you 'bee. Just wanted to make sure that distinction was clear between what's available and what'll work without going full-boat carb, etc.

i know, just being a smart a$$, i forgot about the lack of EFI friendly parts
can you not do any amounts of head work to them?
it shouldnt be that difficult to switch over to a carb would it? beeing its TBI?

Minor headwork, mostly just cleanup with early EFI. Less than, say .420 on the cam lift, while keeping in the 114 lobe separation area. Very easy to swap to carb. Then, let the fun begin!

I see here a AEM BRUTE FORCE AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM for 290 seems to be the only one that fits a 91 dakota, Now is it worth it putting a cold air intake on a truck with 132k miles because it might mess up the computer since its been running stock forever?
