Modain, did you get new ones, used? And how do you search for them. I type 4.7 cams, Dakota cams, HO cams. Never have any results. Thanks

They are brand new. The guy crashed his truck before he installed them.

He is crazy, I can get new ones for less then that at www.buymopar.com. $240.00 for a pair of new ones. I am going to email him and tell him that. See if he will drop price.

kinda jumped into this whole performance thing just the other day by ordering heads intake exhaust and a programmer and i couldnt seem to find a y pipe for a 2000 4.7 anywhere do you think it would be cost effective to have a muffler shop build me a smoother flowing transition piece on my y pipe with a high flow cat for 300. thanks

Heads or Headers.
As for your question, Check to make sure you got the bad Y pipe first. Some daks have it and some dont. I dont think it would be to expensive to have a muffler shop do a Y for you if yours is bad.

is there anyway you can describe what the bad ones characteristics are. on mine from the collectors i have dual just above 2 inch pipes that join right below the passenger seat and crunch into a 2 and ½ inch pipe that goes to the cat. bad? good?

Yep that definitly sounds like the bad one. Mine doesnt look
crunched. There used to be a picture of it on the board but I
cant seem to find it.

yeah it seems really resricting to the whole flow of the system. so you think it would be beneficial to have the exhaust shop make me an insert to open the whole thing up, do you think thats gunna change the actual loudness in decibels or just tone and finally in decreasing the back pressure do you think im gunna lose some outta the whole, i think it'll be okay because it's a truck and it's already kinda built for low end

4.10 gears by a pretty good margine, next best gain of those 4 would be the cams. I don't think you'll regret getting rid of that y-pipe at all.

Custom build or buy a Y. A little backpressure is good for a lowend motor but from the picture ive seen of that thing I cant believe dodge let it out the door like that. Its so bad that I bet when you remove it you pick up some mileage.
As for the 4.10s, if you have 3.55 now then they are worth it. If you have 3.92 then dont bother or go all out to 4.56.
And finally the throttle body. You can get the bbk if you want but most people on here have just ported theirs with an air grinder. Im not sure how much bigger the bbk is but grinding the stock one works pretty well.

The Magnaflow mandrel-bend y-pipe I bought was about $32. The OEM on my '01 4.7 had only 1 1/2" openings at the "Y". GraphiteDak posted a pic of his '03 OEM y-pipe, and it was much better than the '01.

just drove the truck today after he put the car sound brand high flow cat on. seems like i lost alot in the low end is that just the result of the backpressure that was lost. if so what can i do to get the punch back. 4:10?

UGHHHH

A) i cannot find a cam ANYWHERE besides krc and im not payin 700$

B) i gotta 4x4 so if i do 4:10s or 4:56s i have to do the front axel too correct? and thats also too expensive

all i got is a cold air intake and a muffler, so what else can i do for not alot of cash to boost some power?

HO cams are available from the dealer as stock parts - much cheaper.

4x4's must change front gears to match.

The style y-pipe you have may depend on what vendor they used, as much as the year. My '00 has the same style y-pipe as Graphite Dak's '03.

Loss of low end is not due to lack of "backpressure", but something similar - it's loss of scavenging exhaust velocity. Exhaust systems must be properly sized for this.
