I have a 2004 dakota with the Awd drive in it. I was wondering if anyone out there knows how to disable it using a toggle switch so i can alternate between AWD and 2wd???

A friend of mine apparently seen a guy doit on a jeep, so hopefully the same can be applied here.

Thanks,
Jay

Sorry I can't help with your issue but I am currently looking at a 94 with the awd feature. What feedback can you give me about that compared to 2wd with parttime lo and hi 4wd?

Pretty sure there isn't going to be any "toggle switch" solution for you. I have an 02 AWD.

The T-case for the AWD can't be disconnected from the front diff, without pulling gears and/or driveshafts.

The way an awd transfer case works is totally different than a part time case. I believe the front drive section is a fluid drive with a lock up clutch(simmialar to tourque converter) for the 4 lock and 4 low. therefore there is no way to disable it with a toggle switch unless you took the extra time and money to put a np231d part time transfer case in it.(it could be much different thats just what i remember reading)

The all wheel drive came out around the time the 4.7 liter engines came out, so a 94 will only have part time 4 wheel drive, and no electric shift for a 94
