Well opinions are like A-Holes, so we ALL have one. And no everyone will agree on one brand/sound.

As far as MY opinion goes. A lot of Mufflers don't do much more for performance over another. Many of the well built stainless ones (like looking at the Gibson) are fancy glass packs with bigger bodies. A cheap glass pack will flow at LEAST as good. So I dunno if I agree with spending MORE for more performance. But stainless will not rust. I think the Flowmasters have the most UNIQUE sound. But doubt they could outflow a simple glass pack.

The Gibsons are a bit pricy, but a nice straight thru design like a glass pack; and without being obnoxiously loud. Nice tone, not overly quiet either, but hasn't got me pulled over for excessive noise yet. Not getting hasseled by the man in blue is worth it to me.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Yeah come to think of it, looking at Gibson's cut away, they have a larger body with an open space in the middle of the glass pack sections. Probably acts like an ACCUMULATOR to quiet it down. When you step on it, hopefully the higher pressures push more straight through and becomes louder like a glass pack.

Some Glass Packs, depending on how they are installed with piping, can also be fairly quiet until you step on it. They are actually quieter at idle than a Flowmaster.

That could be a possibility with the gibson split duals.Truck probibly makes the diff.My shortbed QC had to go with the 3inch Side swept from gibson (SINGLE) the only way the Gibson duals would go is if I chaind the back tire in the back. Now a club cab or regualer cab I see why the tire would matter.Mr Kowalski or Graphite probably know more then me.

Weird. I guess my post earlier didn't go through :\

Basically I have a QC and I mentioned I didn't have to remove my spare tire.

I routed both the DUALS side by side down by the right side of the frame where the original single exhaust went.

As the pipes go over the rear axle, the pipes criss cross and the right bank of the engine has it's tailpipe go to the LEFT side to keep the pipes sort of equal length.

I made the new pipe match the angle of the existing pipe on the right side. The spare tire seems to be fine.

Hey I was just thinking about my exhaust. After getting the SI/DO Magnaflow put on, I love the sound but I wish it was a little bit louder (There's rediculously great soundproofing in my cab for some reason) so I could hear it more inside. I'm debating whether to just get a new hi-flow cat and maybe a y-pipe to make it louder since it'll have to be replaced eventually (I still pass emissions testing so I'm not sure if I should replace the cat just yet). Instead of spending for a new ypipe and cat I'd thought about getting another cutout WELDED in so it won't leak this time, but again I'm not sure if I should go down that road again ;)
It's just strange how I see all these other trucks sounding so loud and mine doesn't. IT SUCKS!!! I just can't get it loud enough!!! When I had the cutout on before it was just how I wanted it, but it was leaking so bad I got the new muffler and pipes, but forgot to keep the cutout!!! DAMN IT!!!!

Thats the way the Muffler man was gonna run mine when I was first gonna go with true duals Mr Graphite. He told me he would not guaranty that it would not rattle the spair a little. Well I started thinking myself and I figured after a couple years or so them being so close down the right side of the truck they would start to shake rattle and roll also.It was gonna cost me 700 bucks for trues I was not gonna spend that much and have it rattle,in in a few years spent 900 bucks for the Gibson pipe and Headers (STAINLESS)that wont rust. They all Bolted were all the stock Parts were.Had to take the Starter off for one bolt. Not insinuwaiting yours will shake rattle and roll eventually I was just Perinoid.

When I had my exhaust done I specifically told them to bend the pipes AROUND the spare, because I didn't want to have to have the spare in the bed. They did a good job mandrel bending it, it comes pretty close to the spare for an inch or two (about maybe 1/2" from spare) but I don't see any problems from the heat so far. I just got back inside from polishing my tips with that good old turtle wax chrome polish. I had just gone off-roading and the tips had some mud and road crap on them, so my usual routine is to spray the tips with glass cleaner and wipe them with a paper towel to get the mud off, then use the chrome polish and polish it up nice with a few new paper towels. That really brings out the shine in the Stainless Tips. I paid about 560 I think for the new pipe from the stock cat to the muffler and the dual pipes going around the spare out the sides at 45 degrees, including the muffler and two 3" stainless slash-cut tips. It's so cool seeing the steam come out from both sides now when it's cold out!

GraphiteDak if you don't mind me asking, do you know what exhaust your friend's turbo 318 Ram has? I just saw the videos of it at the track after the new head gaskets were put on and I though it sounded nice.

I just got two more videos of my truck, only this time it's at WOT. I've had the exhaust on there for a couple months now, and it's gotten louder since that first video I posted a while back.
I'll post the links as soon as Streetfire.net gets them up (soon).
The sound quality isn't as good since I have to post them on the internet, but just imagine it being better :)
