i just got a 99' dakota with a 5.2 and would like to know what add-ons i can buy for my truck it is stock but can smoke the tires really nice and really easy and but when i push her hard i get this kind of has a little pause between when the pedal touches the floor and when the truck starts to really pick up speed not like the 03' quad cab ram we have the ram doesn't have the same pause but the dak moves quicker the ram only has a 4.7 but they are chipped way differently the ram chips at 106mph and the dakota ive had up to a 113mph. and is the 4.7 in the ram the exact same 4.7 that is in the 00'-04 dakotas cause a couple of guys that i hang out with have dakotas and one is a black 98' rc 3.9 that accelerates real quick up to about 75-80mph and then there is the an 00'red rc 4.7 that hammers up to 118 in a hurry and the there is a black 99' cc r/t that is real sharp looking and kicks all are asses and takes off on us like a retard running to the candy store at christmas with out shoes on. our ram which i drove for a while could burn the 3.9 and hold with the 4.7 for a while and then fall off cause the dakota just takes off in 3rd gear. but i got the 5.2 because with the added displacement i could build it up and be able to smoke the 4.7 dak which in my area has been known as kinda the badd ass around and dont care if he sees a cop or not the truck can beat the cops on the straight aways and the guy knows his way around the country so then he just loses the cops. so i kinds wanted to be able to drag it with him but all i know is that he knows his dakota and others and that he has k&n air intake and flowmaster 40's maybe more than that.
any idea's about how i can hype up my truck

HOLY CRAP what a story! if you clean the throttle body and run some good injector cleaner through the engine it should lose that hesition. There is plenty for the 5.2L To help free up some ponys put a better flowing exhaust and buy or make an intake for it.
I haven't done any bolt ons but i here good things about Harland Sharp 1.7 Roller Rockers. they cost about $300s

yeah those 5.2s will rip. my suspended license will prove it lol. get some headers, full exhause, intake, TB, mopar pcm, shift kit... list goes on.
ii have all those with a cam and i love it. plenty of power. but i still want to through a 100 shot on it to see what thats like.

well theres a lot you can do to a 318. It sounds like you have a street truck not 4 wheel drive so you don't need to worry about low end tourquel.depending on money i'd start with:
intake
M-1 intake manofold(can show 20+ hp on a 318)
K&N intake
F&B 52mm throttle body
Exhaust
headers full exhaust i'd stay away from true duals
Gears 4.10's or 4.56's only thing is you can't go as fast but you'll accelerate real quick
if your telling the truth about how fast this thing is chances are no bolt on will help your case. so you'll have to dig into the internals or supercharge it but the above listed parts are a really good starting place for a supercharger or a normally aspirated build.

yes my truck's 2wd, so i should get intake right off i was going to do that anyhow but wat is a M-1 intake manifold is it any different than anyother manifold and f&b throttle body thats just a bigger body right but whats the stock size and should i put spacers on that tb which gears will get me a better combination of accerlation and higher speed i dont need a super cause as a 20 year old my funds are low my truck only really accelerates real fast after 3000rpm so it aint that quick it kind of stalls alittle at higher speeds probally when my power band is dropping

hey clint282cc, you dont need a 318 to get a suspended license. my 01 3.9 caused me to get my license suspended twice. once i got clocked going 115 mph on I-75 a few miles into the michigan border, and once for being caught smoking my tires at a red light because some ricer was talking sh!t. if only i knew there was a cop sitting 2 cars behind me. the ricer thought it was pretty funny, but i got the last laugh when i ran a 16.8 and he ran a 18.5 at the racetrack about 6 months later.

lol yeah but i got 4 tickets in a months time. thats on top of the 10 other ones i got in my jeep. o by the way. im only 17 and ive had my license for just about a year and a half.
but hey attorneys are great arent they? if im lucky i can get my license back after my next court date!!! sweet.

99yellow5.2 the M-1 intake manifold is a Mopar Performance Parts single plane high rise manifold that will get you a lot better top end performance if you don't mind sacrificing some low end (i only wish they made one for my 02 4.7 i'm already running 14.21 @ 95mph with bolt ons only and stock tires)

no i pay everything. including the attorney. yeah it sucks but hey. it was fun while it lasted!! lol by the way, everytime i got pulled over it was cause of somthin small. like a 75 in a 55 or "squeling tires" when actually it was a cherp into second. so im just lucky i didnt get pulled over when i was rippin it.

Could there be such a thing as casual speeding? Like you're not
going as fast as the fastest people but not as slow as the speed
limit type of thing.
The only time I have ever gone over 100 in my 97 5.2 was when
my friend challenged me to get to Panda Express before him. I
was on CA-67 going 110 on about a half mile strip. He was
driving a Camry...yeah...I passed him with flying colors on the
freeway, and I left 2 minutes after him. When I got off the
freeway my foot was shaking. There were 3 people in my truck.
I would NEVER EVER do that again when people are with me.
Possibly not even do it by myself. I love my truck and the way it
drives. I have a nervous / guilty concience and I would hate for
something to happen to drivers around me for something I did.
Anyways, this was off topic, just thought i'd add my story.

dude. 100 is prolly the norm for me in a day lol. im pissed cuz my truck can only hit 110. but i never got cought. fastest i have ever been clock was 75.
but GREAT NEWS. today i wentto court. and i got my license back!! HELL yeah. cant wait to go rip it. lol nah im jk. im definatly ganna be more convervative
