theres a link on the link section (obviously) for mopar engines...you go and look at the 360's and strokers and they are all like 350+ HP and stuff you following me? haha so are these drop in and go or what? it'd be sweet to have 400HP all motor without messin with a buncha stuff to swap it out...what all does it take to put one of these in? thanx

my question would be are they street legal and do they have all the emissions compatibility of the stock engines? If not you can't use it and still pass emissions.

Most of them are not simply a drop in. Many of the crate motors I came across are LA based, not magnum. SOme subtle differances there; but I'm not expert enouhg to tell you exactly what they are.

Some suppliers (like Hughes) will build basically the same engine on a Magnum platform for a little more money.

You will need a custom chip to get it to full power.

Like he said, it won't be smog legal.

You need to learn to look at lots more than just peak HP #s too - often higher numbers come at a loss of low end torque, largely due to cam choices. A high HP motor that would make for a very quick light car, can be a real dog at lower revs in a heavier truck. Take some time to learn about torque and power curves.

well its kinda hard considering the website only offers minimal info...i already had to do research just to find the price...they arent trying very hard to sell these it seems.
i just thought since it was a magnum...it was good for our truck...i'll ask some dodge peeple about it this weekend

i've asked around and these ARE magnum motors not just random engines online...they are high HP and high torque they would be great with a couple mods....im not worried about speed cuz i know these will do it in our trucks...its just getting it from the warehouse to under my hood that is complicated

They might be high torque at higher revs; but if you look intro this further, you'll see that the low rpm torque has been sacrificed for high rpm power. We are familiar with these, and already knew they are not "just random engines online". Most are designed for lighter cars; and work best with lower gears and looser torque converters. You really need to look into this some more - with an open mind, not just waiting for someone to tell you what you want to hear so you think its good to just drop into a truck...

Ok what do you think your doing? Your doing some sort of research. Your looking for what others have experienced and have knowledge on. But exactly what Kowalski said, you need to look at this with an open mind or your questions are as pointless as you seem the answers your getting are. Dont wait to hear what you want because your probably not going to get it. If that's the case why ask? Just jump into some huge project you know nothing about. That is the point of this forum. To gain knowledge from others so you in turn dont have to make the mistakes they have. Anything that doesn't come stock is not going to be drop in and go. There will always be some sort of modification that's going to be needed.

Those are most likely the carbed versions. I would buy the 360 short block and add the parts you want. You can easily get 500hp NA with the right combo. It might not be the most streetable but its possible.

Old setup: 1/4 mile on old setup: 13.965 @ 100.10 MPH, Crappy 2.236 60' on street tires
Mods: Paxton NOVI 2000 supercharger @ 10 #'s, M1 4Bbl, F&B 58mm TB, Gibson headers, JBA Y-pipe, and a Locker

Why are you having a problem choosing? I typed in "mopar crate motors" and turned up a number of places that carry them along with their prices. Getting one should not be a problem.

Having one built is usually cheaper and you get just what you want in it and not what someone else thought would be best for everyone.

Trucky - I'm chillin' dude, dunno 'bout you. Why would I want of poster of someone's efforts that don't know what he's doin' ? You proclaim some motors are good for a truck when you don't really know, and have been advised otherwise, then you want the homies to chill ?
