What else have you used, with good results in this tranny?

Of course there's the stock mopar,
then the amsoil,

I thought someone posted he used 5w30 MObil 1, and it worked great.

TIA

I haven't changed mine (yet) in my '02 QC. I'll probably just go with the Mopar stuff when I do. It cost me $9/qt at the dealer when I did it for my '99 RC. Three quarts wasn't a big hit on the wallet...

What's your left foot doing?

I remember reading folks have used the Amsoil 5/30 HD diesel oil with good results. The key thing is low or no sulpher content (I think) which reacts bad with the soft and yellow metals that are in our trannies. Pennzoil makes a synchromesh fluid specifically to address this issue. If I didn't have so many bookmarks I might be able to find the URL...

Redline's MTL (a little thicker than original Mopar fluid or PZ Syncromesh)

or Redline's MT90 for very warm climates,

even a half-half mix of both worked great in summer but was a little too thick for winter (in Canada)

so many better choices than motor oil,
actual transmission lubricants with the proper additives and friction quality for the syncros'.

Running Redline MTL in mine. So far the best thing I've found yet.
I've run ATF with additives, Amsoil 5-30, Pennzoil synchromesh, and straight 10W-30 in mine.
Right now, have to say Redline MTL all the way.
I did'nt see that Redline MTL was any thicker that stock fill, or Pennzoil Synchromesh. I live in north Florida so our temps here go low 30's-mid 50's winter with occasionall drops to low 20's for several days to low 80's- high 90's and lots of 100 plus days for summer. So I guess any fluid would get a good all around temp and weather test here.

.... And, most tranny oils are 75-90.

NOt that I doubt it, but where does it say that the NV3500 uses 5w-30?

....and, what did you use to get it up into the hole, w/o using a small syringe over 50 times?
I used to use a rubber hose, on a plastic tranny oil bottle, squeezing the hell out of it.

Most any Amsoil addict will tell you the NV3500 is 5-30 fill. I pull the shift lever and top plate of the tranny out of the center console and pour it down the hole in the shift tower. It's a few more steps to take, but it's the least aggrevating way to get the right amount of oil in.

For the NV3500 I recommend:

AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid SAE 5W-30. Specifically formulated for maximum protection in syncromesh transmissions, prevents the thinning effects of mechanical shear for stable viscosity, superior film strength and anti-wear performance. It protects against rust, keeps seals soft for long life, and is compatible with brass synchros for smooth synchromesh shift quality.
