Subject: results from the racetrack

Message:
well guys i finally raced my truck at the dragstrip. i thought id run a little bit faster, but i was wrong. the fact that it was 100 degrees outside didnt help me but here are the results from my fastest run out of 4. i lost in the first round by the way to a ram with the hemi magnum.

my fastest run was in time trials so there is no dial in
R/T= .348
60ft.=2.679
330=7.561
1/8=11.574@61.73mph
1000=15.019
1/4= 17.957@76.27 mph

and when i got eliminated i ran a 18.01 with a .379 r/t against a guy with a ram2500 with the 5.7 hemi magnum, he ran a 16.623

so, i plan on going back next week if the weather's nice, hopefully a little bit cooler but all and all it was a good time, and the best part was watching a stupid ricer civic try to do a burnout and blowing up his engine.

btw thanks for the tips

Ha that's good stuff the civic blew up. I want to run my truck but I'm afraid of what it will run. Are you 2wd or 4wd? If your 2wd really not amused to see what I'd run. I smoked a reg cab 2wd v6 back at base but I doubt he had any mods.
I'll have to find a track close to base once I get back.

Ya racing is defentally fun at the track. My personal best was 15.0 in my R/T. I have been seferal times with verious outside temps. It seems that tempeture does not affect me much. I average 15.0 to 15.2 depending on tire spin. I think my times should be better with the bolt ons I have. What do you guys think? I have K&N KIPK, M1 intake, Mopar performance cam, after market heads, Mopar performance ECU, Doug Thourly headers, 40 series muffler, 1800 stall torque converter, and roller rockers. I think thats it might be forgetting something though. I have never dynoed it, but what do you guys think im cranking out as far as HP and TQ? I think I should be in the mid 14s what do u guys think though? Anyway im glad you had fun at the track. Good luck next week.

nice times. that was a good run for a 3/4 ton pick up.

99dakrt i would say 13.69secs at 108mph

how do you like that 1800 stall converter? does it drive any different around town with the high stall converter? and what mod was your favorite?

thanks

Toolfan I baught the truck with all the mods so im not sure how it drove before the TQ converter. Im also not very familar with transmissions so im not sure what exactly TQ converters do or the advantages of higher stall speeds. Do you really think that I shoud be in the 13s or was that a typo cause I think thats a bit fast. The previous owner who is a good friend of mine said that the biggest gains in power probably came form the intake.

What is your Speed in the 1/4. From that I could probally tell you what you would run with traction. With the blower in the first time down the track was a 14.7 @ 101 MPH. With a locker, and new tires It went down to 13.9 @ 101. Im going to the track tommarow. Im aiming for a 13.5 with the M/T E/T streets.

Ya my time was 15.0 at 92 MPH. It is a club cab. I have always thought that I should run faster then 15.0. That run I had no tire spin and the launch seemed perfect. The worst time I ever had was a 16.4 and that was my first run ever. I was spinning the tires all the way throuh second gear before I hooked up. Anyway thinks for the responces.

99dakrt,
Kinda depends on what altitude, temp, humidity you're running.
If that 15.0 is at say Albuquerque or Denver, you've got a pretty fast N/A Dakota. If it's at LA or Houston on a cool night, somethings not right.
Here's a link to the NHRA Atl. correction table. You've got to remember temp. and humidity will also make a difference.

^^^^ That's what I was going to say.

You really can't compare times with other people on the internet form diff tracks and altitudes.

Here in the AZ valley Speedworld is about 1000 ft alt, up north in the mountains near 7,000 performace sucks. Denver being 5800 or so would not do so good on e.t.s

At Speedworld I get about 16.0 the last time I took mine. 1500 Hemi's get the same. So I can't complane too much for a truck.

hey guys i just thought id let you all know that i raced again on wednesday and i did pretty good. i made it to the final round but lost to a guy who had 30 years of bracket racing experience compared to my one week of experience. my truck ran alot better, i was in the 17.5's all night, id say not bad for a 4200 pound truck with a v6 and an automatic transmission and a few minor mods. i did get a gay little trophy for comming in 2nd at least.

All the Ram's that have Hemi's, have Hemi Magnum's. I Dont know if anything else(Chargers, Durangos) with the new Hemi is refered to as the Hemi Magnum.

Dude.... no sh!t. But the 5.7's power varies with
whatever vehicle its in.
the charger with the 5.7 only gets 340 hp and 390 tq.
Where the ram gets 345 hp and 375 tq
however, the 3500 ram with the 5.7 gets 330 hp.

At no point in my statement did i ever say the new rams with hemi-mag's were the first to have motors called "magnums".
And the magnum's didnt start till 92 with the exception of the 360 magnum which didnt start till 93.

right...

the motors are basically the same just
tuned differently..

do you really think they would put a
different HEMI motor in each of those cars/trucks
to gain that little of power???

common sense
