Any ideas if this would be a good start for some mid level mods on a 99'5.2L SLT 4x4 with 150000kms, my only mods so far are a K&N drop in and single in dual out exhaust.

A superchips 3715 tuner.
A Edelbrock 'AirGap'Intake manifold.
A set of Crower 1.7 Stainless steel
Roller rockers

I hope to get them for a good price so if someone can let me know what they think that would be great.
I know gears would be great but they are too much money.

Does your truck have a carb? If not, the manifold isn't going to work for you. If you do have a carb, then I think it's an excellent choice.

Also look at the Hypertech tuner. A little cheaper, since it has fewer options.

Roller rockers should add more power. Everybody who has done that mod has been pleased. But it is pretty expensive. Remember that you need new valve covers; and they are not cheap. This is the next mod on my list.

You should also consider an open element air cleaner. The drop in filter does not add any power at all.

If you go with the Harland Sharp rockers there's no adjusting, no need for new valve covers or modification to them, and they're much cheaper. There's some on summit for around $280

I thought that I would only need new valve covers if I went with the thicker aluminum rockers and not the stainless ones, am I wrong in thinking this.
Why do I need them for the stainless ones but not the aluminum ones.
Also would the polished Mopar valve covers work O.K for the crower rockers

Please help.

Thanx

I hate to be the party pooper but didn't you say the motor had 150000 on it. You do understand that the mods your talking about will increase the wear and tear on a motor that might be in line for a rebuild. I hope that you've done your homework on the motor---COMPRESSION TEST---VACUM TEST--these test will give you a good idea if the motor can handle the extra STRESS. If you've done the tests and all looks good take it easy. As I said HYPO parts will cause more wear and tear on even a motor in good shape. Good Luck.

Initially, that's what I thought. But from reading here and other places, I was suspicious. Then I called the supplier (KC?) and was told the Harland Sharps required new valve covers or a spacer. I havn't actually tried it yet, but that's what I believe.

Thanx for the info, I could be wrong.
I will look into the crower ones just to be sure, maybe they have different clearances.
Where can I get that spacer that you are talking about, or do I just double up on the valve cover gaskets.
I thought that the Harland Sharp RR's were aluminium?

Truck guy
That's 150000 kilometers, not miles.
That isn't that much in my opinion, and shouldn't need to be rebuilt for years to come.
Yes, actually it was tested before I bought it, cause it was a insurance write off that was rebuilt and I wanted to be sure everything was fine.Thanx for inquiring.

Peace
