"Shrot throw" shifters are expensive, due to the special manufacturing techniques needed to swap the O and the R.
Better you should just hachsaw it shorter.

See the posts for Hurst shifer both here and in v8 forum. People say that the Hurst 3910155 shifter can be adapted to the 01 trans. I plan to give it a try.
