There are so many cam types that I don't know which one to get. I know I want the most aggressive cam I can get without having to upgrade any of the valvetrain. KRC has all kinds and I've seen many others. What cam will give me the most performance for my 99 r/t without changing anything else? Thank you.

as he^ said. call KRC and tell them exactly what you want to do with your truck and let them recommend something. afterall, they should have all the expertise you need. Crane or any of the other manufacturers will do the same also.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why someone would start with one of the most difficult mods. If you can do a cam then everything else is incidental and relatively cheap to do.

upgrading a cam without upgrading at LEAST the valve springs is almost impossible. reason being is the stock springs cannot handle the additional lift of the new cam without binding.

Ready to change your gearing too ? Usually, the more agressive your cam choice, the lower you should go with your gears. Probably want a looser torque converter too.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

There are plenty of people running mild street cams with no change in springs. You asked for info on cams <B>"without having to upgrade any of the valvetrain."</B>

Anyone would have been glad to tell that installing a good cam could mean that you would likely have to install other valvetrain components. In some cases you may even want to install different push rods.

Again, ask KRC if they have a grind that will fit your needs <B>"without having to upgrade any of the valvetrain."</B>
