I currently do not have mufflers on my 98 Dakota Sport R/C 5.2L. There is only one catalyitc on my truck, so how would it sound if I put one muffler (flowmaster 40, 50, performance) with dual outlets, after the cat but before my dual exhaust begins, as oppossed to a muffler per outlet pipe? If I did dual mufflers I might as well make it true dual though. I would just like to hear your experiences with mufflers near the cab or near the end of the pipe, and a muffler with dual outlets. I know it's a lot of questions, but rich sound from a V8 is priceless.

Do you think it would make a difference if I cut the pipe next to the spare tire, or if I put a turndown on the muffler before the axle?

That sounds awesome! with a 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 inch pipe do you think it would sound similar? and do you have headers? thanks.

I noticed we have the same engine, do any of your other mods affect your sound toolfan?

i just put a 3" terminator muffler, you know the one that says "the bad boy of mufflers" or some sh*t. no tailpipe as its all rotted out, so it exits just before the axle. so far im very happy with the sound, it doesnt have too much resonance at cruise and a good throaty tone under load but im sure it would drive me fing crazy on a long trip. it was only $50, itl cost me another $85 to get a tailpipe bent up.

1992 5.2 4x4 auto
tps mod (seemed to tighten up throttle response)
above muffler
and a whole lotta grandpa smell

the exhaust is all stock plumbing. that is just with the super 40 muffler on there. since the muffler was my first mod i can say that nothing i have done has changed the sound.

the cat is off in that video, but that didn't change the sound.

I'm hoping to purchase some 1.7 roller rockers during summer and those should change the sound some to.

goddammit novaDAK get that damn cutout! i wanna hear it!!! lol it should sound killer with the cutout, i know because i have had the muffler off before and i have had the pipe disconnected before the cat before. lol extremely LOUD!

i had a turn down on the truck i hated the sound of the exhaust hitting the ground underfull throttle.

Don't worry. It WILL BE DONE either this weekend or during next week. Just think of how I felt, buying the cutout early march and have it sitting right in front of me with no time to install it. I've been VERY busy lately, trying to save my grades due to the end of the quarter. Gotta get good grades to go to college! 4th Qtr started last week so I can relax a little until I have to take an AP Exam in two weeks. I also plan on cutting the stock tail pipe next to the spare tire, so that it will come over the axle, down a little, and dump there, getting rid of that ugly visible rusty pipe (which is covered with mud)

ended up a little over 16k. and hell yeah im happy it was a great school, excelent instructors, resources, lab equipment, the whole nine. about the only thing i would change is i wish i would have taken the diesel and the auto body courses as well. that would have been another 10k i think. but they have a full financial aid program and you should be able to get qualified. phoenix itself sucks though, had a buick gn that was broken into 6 times within 5 months.

I am also considering taking the ACT also. I know that most schools don't require both, but I figure what the hell, if it could help me get in to a school!
