Subject: Clear Coat Application Question
IP: Logged

Message:
Right now I am installing a Six-Pack hood scoop on my 03 dakota's hood. When I spray paint a clear coat onto the hood do I sand in between each layer of clear coat. How many clear coats should I apply on my hood?

No, you don't have to sand in between coats, but if you have already painted and are waiting to clear later then yes you will. but if you are doing it all at once then wait about 45mins before you start to clear.
just apply your layers of clear coat in about 20-30 mins apart, but you have to apply enough so that it does not dry too fast but not too much that it runs, it's a fine line.
Also make sure the surface is totally clean and oil free, even running your fingers over it before you paint or clear it could ruin your work.
Minimum tempurature is about 25oC
Use a 400 grit sandpaper if any sanding is required.

Good Luck
