Go to JCwhitney.com - they have a big selection of different scoops and hoods.

I would only consider it if the opening was facing the windsheild. A hard rain would dump on the engine if opening was facing forward. And on the freeway in heavy rain it would for sure drown out the engine. Even with it facing the windsheld, the scoop will evacuate tons of heat. I did this on a CJ5 Jeep that I put a V8 in . The area was tight and hot air was trapped under the hood. Solved a bad problem totaly plus some extra.

So many problems .... So little time

I don't know, i have a shaker hood and it rains a lot here in Oregon and I have never had a problem with water getting in and causing problems. I guess it depends on the scoop and it's design

OH P.S. installed the well known K&N aircharger for my 05 4.7, i love it, recording gas mileage and will report results...the throttle is better.

What I was saying is with the open end facing the window there's no chance of water getting in and I have to agree with Jerry. It's all got to do with design. Been years sense I installed one. At the same time facing forward, The air is being pushed into an already crouded engine bay. I put mine on facing window and it worked terrific. the engine fan plus freeway air through the radiator was evacuated through the scoop and my engine run way cooler. Keep in mind mine was on a CJ5 jeep 1964 with a chev V8 stuffed in it. I was running a buick radiator but still had a heating problem untill I installed the scoop. It was one of my better ideas.

So many problems .... So little time

You are basically making a cheap cowl induction hood. A full cowl hood will run you $600+. Adding a scoop in a reverse direction and cutting open the hood below it allows the hot air within the engine bay to be sucked out at speed. This is how a cowl induction hood works.

Hard part is cutting the hood and finding a scoop that can be functional and looks decent on your hood.
