Post in the V6 forum for better answers :) This also depends on what you call cheap.

The K&N stock replacement isn't a performance upgrade as such. Replacing the while air cleaner assembly is much better. The one's off eBay with K&N cone filters seem decent If you'd like to save $, I'm told you can remove the snorkle and enlarge or add holes to the stock box. Also remove the rubber flap under it.

The IAT relocation mod seems to work for some people and not for others. You move the IAT sensor further up the intake so it senses colder air and richens the mix.

The crank position mod is another one that seems to work for a lot of people. It adjusts the timing a bit. There are instructions on this site or google it.

Good cap and rotor and maybe a set of Taylor or MSD plug wires couldn't hurt.

Look for a used V8 TB from a Dakota. Sometimes you can get them cheap.

I have an '01 3.9. I have an Airaid CAI and F&B throttle body. That alone perked the truck up a bit.

Bolt that sucker on! Reset the PCM too, just to make sure. The PCM will figure things out eventually, but if you reset it'll do it much sooner.
