When you are ready to upgrade...Amsoil.
I've changed mine every 15,000 miles for the last 500,000 miles. Seems to work.

When you say CHANGE it every 15k. WOW. Are you just dropping the pan and adding what you lost, or are you pumping it ALL out and like adding a case of fluid each time?
That would be pricy. I'd hope Amsoil would last longer than 30k. The stock stuff does.

Mine is at 38k and I need to do mine., Debating on how I want to change it out. I wish there was a drain on the converter so I wouldn't have to do it the hard way. And I don't trust any lube shop to touch my tranny.

Thats what happens when you stay up way too late.

GraphiteDak;

You are right. I looked at the log in my very own Franklin Planner and, there it is: 30,000 mile check up.

So, what I do usually is a reverse flush machine (14 qts.). That replaces all the fluid.
I have drained and added and twice had my transmission shop do the full blown thing, including adjusting the bands.
I have Oil Analyzers (of Amsoil) do a lab analysis at least once per 100k Miles.

How good is the lab analysis?
A bit after 100,000 miles the tach began "blipping" the torque converter was locking and unlocking, especially on cruise. The ride was still smooth but it was irritating. 3 dealers and two transmission shops said I'd need a new transmission. I called the guys in white lab coats at Amsoil, who said the analysis showed no signs of wear. 400,000 miles later the original engine and transmission still purr along together.
Later I discovered a bad throttle position unit caused the problem.

By the way, I think Amsoil extended the service life of ATF-4. The new oil filters are rated way longer, and filter smaller. Maybe we should check that out.
