I have a 97 dakota 5.2 4x4 automatic. I have been wanting to get it to shift firmer or better yet when I want it to shift. Alot of times it will not up shift and cause me to over rev the engine. So I was thinking about running a shift kit. Well when I went to the trans shops to see what they would say. All of them told me not to run a shift kit on a 4x4. They all said that I would be better off running a manual valve body. They said that a shift kit will only cause me problems. So my question is what do you all think about this? What should I do, and has anybody ran a shift kit or a manual valve body on their 4x4. Please help. I would like to get this problem fixed.
Thanks
