If your truck is stock or close to it you will be throwing away your money. No power increase and no fuel mileage increase unless your teplacing a bad worn out system. In that case a good tuneup will do just as much for you. nothing to be gained unless your running some pretty good mods.

So many problems .... So little time

its good for forced induction or cams. but your truck engine is still taking in about the same amount of air it would be stock. if you plan on up grading even more and think you will need the extra volts and sparks than do the mod.

i've always heard good things about MSD but i bet accel is also pretty good.

You need at least a cam plus good exhaust with appropriate intake breathing abilities . With these considerations Your aproching ignition inprovement time. SC. turbo or high compression engines will make good use of better ignition. Like I said. If it makes you feel good then do it reguardless. Only thing it will hurt is how long your cap, rotor, plugs and wires last. You can be sure there is no gas mileage or performance to be gained unless your replacing totally worn out ignition parts but a good tuneup will acomplish the same thing.

I've used a Jacobs for 500,000 miles. About 1 MPG improvement and crisper running. Sanitary plugs when I change the cheapest copper Autolites at 30,000 miles.
You'll feel an improvement by just changing wires. That's a cheap way to improve things.

I had 2 jacobs systems in my shop that I just sent to the dump last week. Both went dead in less then 2 years. Jacobs wires also went bad in less time then unites. I have tried every way I can think of to talk to tech support at jacobs with zero responce. Can't even get replacement wires on there 85 bucks a set life time guarenteed wires. Jacobs equipment is garbage. Also I seen no differance in fuel mileage or performance as claimed. As I see it I had 800 dollars in jacobs equipment and wires that never did a thing. If you have serious modes go with MSD. Otherwise stick with a good tuneup.

The Jacobs I bragged about just bit the dust. Lasted a tad longer than yours.
I think the problem is Doctor Jacobs sold the company to a catalog outfit that just keeps the name for old clients. Support is non existant now.
I run pretty much the opposite of most of you; I want MPG and long life. The Jacobs did give me about one MPG more, so it paid for itself in a year in gas savings. But you have to drive all over the place to accomplish that. When I had the valve job done, the mechanic was surprised how clean the cumbustion area was. Just a fine layer of carbon. The Jacobs does cause more complete burning.
Would I do it again? Hmmmm. Don't know.
