yes, you list turbo kits from sts. No, you do not list any for a dakota.

why spend $4k+ and still have to modify the kit to fit??

So when you are cruising the turbo is sucking air OUT of the intake?

the air is always coming from the same place.. just the compressor wheel is not spinning fast enough to compress the air. turbo's dont pull air or push air... they compress it.

on some turbos (such as the one i had), the turbine wheel doesnt even spin at idle, causing the compressor wheel not to spin.

There is a direct turbo kit available for Dakota R/T's, but as with most finished power adders that have support, it isn't cheap...

Unfortunately STS does not offer a direct package for the 5.9L V8 nor does it sound like anyone's inquiries with them will yield an official package.

When we talked to this one turbo outfit There's people with race cars who buy from him. One is a DAILY DRIVER TWIN TURBO 68-ish Camero that runs 9's. I've SEEN the car at the track. And I've SEEN this car driving down Grand Ave!
Anyway we were worried about selecting a turbo and mentioned how people always say you MUST follow the tubo charts, etc to select the RIGHT turbo.

He said you can actually get away with using quite a few different combinations and get it to work quite well with proper tuning. He said lots of people spread all sorts of B.S. on the internet to make you think that it has to be EXACTLY done a certain way. I guess not always. You can make all sorts of stuff work. Sometimes something of course will work like crap.

We showed him some used ones we had. One I thought was WAY TOO BIG for my V8 Dakota.
He said it COULD WORK. Maybe well. Goes to show you.

I gave it to my bro in law. He's farting around with it and has some tuning issues. Especially since he hasn't added fuel or an intercooler at all!!!!
But it DOES spool up just fine. He limited it to 5Lbs for now.

I had posted this in the members area. But maybe others will get a kick out of it.

This was as of today when he just got the truck running again.

This is all pretty much JUNK YARD parts. He bought the waste gate and blow off valve new and the flanges. About $200+

Exhaust pipe scraps from the muffler shop - free
Misc Home Depot ABS - Cheap
Steel for brackets and stuff we pay like $.40 per Lb for it.

So he has like $300 into this. Using his imagination. Some of my help, as well as some of my chuckles to along with it!
Especially when he used SQUARE exhaust pipe from the manifold to the turbine flange!

Earlier in the week it looked like this... and what I was chuckling about every time I looked at it.

And what he made it look like as of tonight.

Here's some pix, etc I took and uploaded to my website

Pretty cool graphite just curious is that a GM-4 or a GM-8 turbo off a 6.5 chevy kinda looks like it, and do you know of anybody who has done it to a 4.7 in a dak. I would love to put a turbo on my truck
