Here's the latest video and audio samples I could make today.

As posted in another thread I swapped out the glass packs for Flowmaster 40 delta flows to reduce in cab noise. It's still mean sounding, but not as loud in the cab. Not as loud period. I miss the loud at times but this is more bearable if you tow something for 3 hours at a time!

Here's two mp3 audio clips:
Normal driving through my hood: http://www.paysonarizona.net/mp3's/DualFlowCruise_01.mp3

Through myhood and gas it a bit and let off. http://www.paysonarizona.net/mp3's/DualFlowStepOnItALittle.mp3

With it not being deafening loud anymore you can really hear the tires bark good when it shifts (auto tranny)

And some fun tearing it up a bit, going sideways, chirping tires, etc...

Video in Real Player

That's my daughter riding with me. But I was holding the camera, and correcting the steering with one hand having fun :)

If you have a slower internet connection download this lower rez video http://www.paysonarizona.net/Home%20Videos/DakotaVids/021906_DakTestRompLoRez.rm

Thanks dude. I think I may leave it this way for a while now. It sounds good and is not too loud now I think. I will find out how it really sounds when I tow next time.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the comments my kids makes (in the video) when I was romping that thing yesterday :p

The video has thebest series of romps :)

Yup. She just turned 11. So she knows it all.

I was actually out at the very edge of town. And that housing tract was in construction phase. Sunday afternoon. Nobody there.

I was surprised when that white car turned into that hood. I was getting up to 50 or so on them short romps. The truck got sideways pretty good a few times. And the tires really bark on that smooth asphault when it shifts.
I actually think that was a great testing area :)

It can. SuperChips and a gear swap :)

As long as you have a V8 anyway.

This is the first time I've had a tranny chirp the tires like that without having to ever remove the drain pan :)

Nope I've got the 3.9, but she still does a mean brakestand.

With lots of money I bet I can make that 3.9 do that, economics aside.

Yeah, I thought it was funny when your daughter said 'that's a good way to get a ticket'! Also when you asked her if she was ready to get sideways and she said 'no'. It sounded like something my daughter would say (she's six). I like it when I'm 'wheelin with the kids and she says 'Daddy are you really gonna drive us up that hill?'! Or 'there's no road here Daddy!'
It was awesome to hear your wheels chirp when shifting into second. Not something you hear very often from an automatic in a 4x4 Dakota. When that white car turned onto the street you were on I thought it was a cop!
I asked you in another post (about Flomaster vs. Magnaflow vs. glasspacks) about your gear swap. I know you did them yourself, but what do you think it would cost to have them professionally installed? My days of working under vehicles are over due to a back injury. Also, how do you think would they be with a manual transmission?
Thanks in advance for any response. Again, great job with your truck, I love the fact that you have kept it stock looking so you have a 'sleeper'!

With a manual the 4.56 may be a little much depending on how low your 1st gear is. Maybe 4.10's. Wuith my auto I love them. They are just right.

Installed by usual prices would be around $1500 or so??? I heard $800 per axle so that's my guess for gear swaps.

The kids actually LOVE it when we go romping off road. But the oldest thingks she's a teenager so that's the kind of smart a$$ remarks she spouts off at times.
She also loves going to the races. She thinks them Honda's and such suck. She loves the muscle cars. So at least I did something right.

She can't wait for my Dister to be done so she can go with me to race that.

When I was eye-balling it a few months ago. Total price was around $1200-$1300 for a 4x4. The install was $325/axle, with the rest being parts. That included the gears, install kits, and the install. But that was without any LSD/locker install.

The sound is nice. It is refined enough to not be annoying, but definitely has the throat to announce the engine means business. Do let us know how it is after a tow.

Can't wait for my (stock) muffler to rust/wear out. I won't catch crap from my wife for "changing" my truck if I have to replace it rather than "mod" it. :-)

What's your left foot doing?

The wives just don't understand our projects/hobbies.

They understand $350 for a Duney and Burke (spelled?) purse though!!!!

I may tow to Flagstaff next in a month or so to go ride the ATV's at the Cinders.

My poor Warrior has no power in the high altitude and there are some massive hills to climb. Way bigger than the sand dunes.

I'm real close to buying a ATV turbo for it :)
Like within a month I think.

Then we'll see how that biatch climes hills :)

(or blows up trying)

Thanks for the reply GraphiteDak. I was wondering how first gear would be with those gears. Cool you're fixing up a Duster! I learned how to drive in a '71 Duster and then a '72 Dart (folks traded in Duster). I've always loved the 'A' bosy Mopars! Good luck!

Thanks for that sweet clip, I have been trying to find a video on what a 40 series flowmaster sounds like on a 4.7, because I have a 01 durango with the 4.7, and just bought a 40 series 3" in dual and 2.5" outlets, I would have loved to have gone true dual but I don't have the money right now. Maybe next time.

I had single exhaust flowmaster 40 for some time. It sounded pretty good as is.

Now it's just a bit louder and of course, in Stereo :)

Spacinjason. My wife looks at the Duster as if it's a POS. She's always lived in the city and never drove cars like that.

My friend who lives nearby bought a used Z28 last year. it spun a bearing not long after racing it, stupid Chebby :p

So he had to drop his LT1 engine from UNDER the car. Because that is how they come apart!

He was over at the house a week ago or so and we were talking about the cars. She was bitching about the stripped Duster in the garage. As if I should have bought something running.

I look at my friend and say "Dude, is this a POS? Or not a good car to be building?"

He looks at my wife and says "If I would have had a car like THIS to buy, I would have rather built something like this instead if my Camero!"

The car is apart. But at least I get to build it the way I want it. And it will be an easy car to work on too.
