I was just told by my sucky service department that " The rear end bearings are smoked " I have a 2003 4X4. At 43000 miles the whining started and this is the news i got. I have religously followed the black book for service and upkeep on this truck. Is the future to come on this truck? the front end was fried with bad CV joints and now the rear end. GREAT JOB DODGE!!!!!!

Although dodge diffs are famous for that, 43K seems a little early. If it's not covered under warrenty, take it to a local diff shop. It will be a lot cheaper, and they'll use better parts.

Yeah, check your warranty. My 03 has a 7/70 extended warranty tht Dogde was giving for free back in 03, the deductable it $100.

My question is, how did the bearings get fried in 43K? Oil lube monkeys forget to check the oil level in the diff?

Or have you been doing 5 grand neutral drops ;-)
