I am wondering if anyone has run a 4x4 with a 4.7 & automatic down the drag strip??? It seems like a lot of people have 2 wheel drive infomation. I would like to get some 4x4 input. I have not run my 2000 4x4 4.7 w/auto yet, but i don't think that i can expect too much....maybe an 18 second run. ???

My truck runs right at 18 seconds. I race at Bandimere Speedway in Colorado and it is at about 6000 feet above see level. I have 31" tires and 3.55 gears so I don't accelerate very fast. I have only done an air filter intake and a cat-back exhaust.

How about the 1/4 mile times or 0-60 for 2001 4x4 club cab with a 5 speed? Any guess? 3.55 gears also.

Took my truck to Route 66 Raceway about 3 weekends ago, and by going off what everyone else runs I guess I did pretty good. Very consistent 16.3's @ about 80-81 MPH. Not bad for a 4X4 Truck, I ran some guy in one of those SS/T Rams, Thought he was a big shot with his big bad 5.9L, but this little 4.7L can really move this truck. Well to say the least he had to come over and see what I was running he couldn't believe it, he even talked about getting a DAK!! I really love watching those Cheby trucks run there 17-18's though....it a good time.

I really do not understand why anyone with a 14 sec. or greater would even take the thing to a dragstrip... what is the point?
I understand all about brackets and everything but what is the thrill of taking a slug to a race track?
I love my Dak, so much so that I do not even b|tch about the gas mileage anymore, but seriously, what is the point if you are not in the 13's at the very highest?
Instead of wasting money at the track, why not save it for real mods, if you wanna go fast.

Yeah, the 22 bucks it takes to go to the track and have fun with a truck really puts a dent in my mod budget.

What the hell are you talking about. Who cares what you run. Racing should be done at the track!!! It's fun as hell. I don't see why runing 13's is the only fun. Trying to hit good 60 ft times... reaction times.... I've intslled a kenne bell but i would still head to the track for some fun if i didn't.

My 2000 CC 4x4 4.7L auto, ran 17.sumthin 1/4 mile. Now, this was according to the lil G-tech thing I had plugged in, and I was going uphill in the winter. I dunno how accurate that is, but I would think it woulda been slower since I was going uphill. I dunno, that's what I got.

Bracket racing is just that, My 2002 4x4 4.7 best time of 16.28 at 86mph has beeen track champion the last 2 years at 2 different tracks. In mopar I run all commers so far 7.85 dragster is the fastest to loose to me. I have as much fun racing my truck as my 7.35 185mph 63 corvette more variety and usually better drivers. But for those that think fasterand showing off on the streeet is cool Pay your tickets and beware of the blue dakota in Boise.

Dudes(?), i never said anything about racing on the street. I think that street racing is stupid beyond belief.
My whole point was 14, 15, 16 seconds is SLOW. Why go to the track to find out how slow you really are. you could "street race" a 16 sec vehicle (light to light) and most likely never break the speed limit.

No matter how you put it, if you have time to think about anything other than your timing while drag racing then you need to stop trying to drag race the slow beast.

By all means, if you wanna drag the Dak, go for it. Just put some real power in it so it will pull a respectable time. Which sounds better to you-- And the dak crosses the line with a 16.98 second run---- or the dak blasts through the traps with a time of 9.98. get the point?

Hey Guys,
I have a 2001 4x4 4.7 quad cab with 3.55's. I g-teched it about 6 months ago and it ran a 15.8? This is lower than most trucks on here so I don't know if some other variable was acting in my favor or what. It was run on a rural road parallel to the interstate marked for the 1/4 mile. Top non strip spot in the area very level and straight. The g-tech is pretty accurate because my friend ran it on his mustang and his strip time was only a few tenths off. We ran 3 runs ranging from 15.8 to 16.0 seconds.

My 03 RC AWD does 15.8@89 too. No thats not fast on the dragstrip, but HEMI's and 5.3 Chevy's aren't really fast either at 15.5 or so stock. No 4x4 is really set up for a strip and what would be the point anyway. They're all fun though. They'll still beat most Mom's in their sedans and SUV's. Its really is a truck guys.
